This Saturday 24th October!!

Got a broken toaster, a favourite jacket with a tear, a wobbly chair or a household item you can't bear to throw away?

Bring it along! Our friendly, skilled volunteers will do their best to help you repair it, so you can keep it in use for longer.

And while we take a look at your item, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some homemade cake.

Today is International Repair Day. 🪛🔧

It's a day to celebrate the incredible people and businesses who keep our belongings in use, preserve traditional skills and prevent countless items from becoming waste.

But it’s also time to highlight that repair is still largely absent from the policies that shape our economy, our climate ambitions and our approach to reducing waste.

We’ve signed our name to the Repair Matters Campaign supporting the open letter to Andy Burnham, UK’s Prime Minister.

If you believe repair deserves a seat at the table, we'd be incredibly grateful if you could read the letter and add your name in support too.

📢 A special community screening: The People’s Emergency Briefing.

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?

St Andrews Church, Shrivenham Parish Council and Shrivenham Methodist Church have organised a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

After the film there will be an open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

It's not a charity shop. We run as a Community Benefit Society, with a simple purpose: to reduce waste together as a community.

The Hub gives you practical, sustainable options — refill, reuse, recycle, buy pre-loved and avoid single-use plastic where we can.

A little bit about the shampoos, conditioners and body washes we’ve got at The Hub.

We wanted to offer some everyday products that are a bit kinder to the environment, without making a big fuss about it.

The liquid shampoo, conditioner and body wash are available as refills, so you can bring your bottle back and refill it rather than buying a new plastic bottle every time. We also have handmade soap, shampoo and conditioner bars if you want to cut down on packaging altogether.

You’ll also see products that don’t contain SLS, SLES or parabens. There’s a lot of information — and a lot of claims — about these ingredients, so we’re not going to tell you that they’re all “bad”. It’s more about having a choice and finding products that suit you.

We’re trying to make some simple, everyday alternatives available locally. Nothing complicated, and no pressure to change everything at once.

If you’re passing, have a look and maybe give one a try. You might find something you like. 🌿

We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic volunteer to help us sell items on eBay!

Sometimes, we receive donations that could raise more money for The Hub by being sold online rather than in our shop. That’s where you could make a real difference! 🙌

We’re looking for someone who would be happy to take on selling a few items here and there through a dedicated eBay account on our behalf. It’s a flexible opportunity to support our organisation, help us raise more funds, and give donated items a second
chance. ♻️

You don’t need to commit to hours every week, just a willingness to help when you can. If you have experience selling on eBay, that’s fantastic, but enthusiasm and reliability are what matter most! 😊
