MEET JAMES AND DEREK!

Since starting his latest challenge James has swam 522 lengths in 12 sessions, this is 8.15 miles.

His target is 1664 lengths, 26 miles in 50 sessions or less. He is currently on target to do the distance in 38 sessions.

Two weeks ago James did a mile in the pool for the first time ever, it took him 2 hrs and 34 minutes to do, using the noodle and His one good arm. James' legs don't work and he cannot see so he follows the voice of Derek his one to one support who is in the pool with him.

After not swimming last week due to a cold going onto his chest, James is back on track and swam 80 lengths this week in his two sessions, 48 + 32.

James is swimming to help Bikeability Wales be available for others in the surrounding area.

UPDATE ON JAMES' SWIMMING CHALLENGE!

Yesterday 28th May was James 29 session in the pool for his 26 mile swimathon.
He swam 32 Lengths which took him to
20 miles + 10 lengths in this challenge.

Overall since starting to raise money, three and a half years ago and recording his swimming distance, James has swam a total of 86 miles and 49 lengths in 193 swimming sessions at Ammanford.
His average distance over these latest sessions has been over 44 lengths every time He has been in the pool.

James continues to improve in swimming which is greatly beneficial to him.
Over in the Three and a half years he has averaged just over 28.75 lengths each time he has been in Ammanford pool (193 times). By this you can see his progress from averaging 28.75 lengths to now averaging over 44 lengths in a session.
His personal best is a mile which he has done three times.
We are so thankful for this amazing facility at Bikeability Wales, Dunvant, Swansea and the amazing support it gives to not just James, but to all that comes.
He has 374 Lengths left to do to complete this latest challenge.
We thank all at Ammanford pool as well in the support they give James, staff and the general public that he interacts with.
