The support we’ve received over the past few years has been absolutely amazing, and together we’ve helped bring Christmas joy to so many children and young people.

🎁🎄CHRISTMAS PRESENT APPEAL 🎄🎁

Thank you to Helen and Bill For donating all of these wonderful toys! We are absolutely blown away with your kindness and generosity!!

Last Christmas we provided over 600 Christmas sacks full of presents to children and teenagers across Sunderland who may otherwise have gone without.

This year we go again! We have already began our Christmas preparations. We are asking for donations of toys and gifts to ensure no child goes without a present this Christmas.

Once again, we are supporting over 300 young people who have recently left care (mainly teenagers) who may otherwise not get a gift this Christmas. We believe all young people deserve to feel remembered and special at Christmas❤️

We are accepting toys and gifts for ages from babies to teens. They must be new and unopened. Gifts must not be wrapped so we can ensure the gift goes to a child age appropriate.

We are also requesting any donations of wrapping paper as we always include a roll in our present sacks so families and caregivers can wrap the Christmas presents for their loved one and enjoy the Christmas magic too! 🥰🎅🏼🎄

💚⚡ **ENERGY ADVICE PROJECT – UPDATE!** ⚡💚

Our Energy Advisors have been working hard to support people facing rising energy bills and the ongoing cost-of-living challenges.

Here’s a look at what we’ve been helping people with :

✅ Helping new renters submit opening meter readings and set up energy accounts in their own names.
✅ Supporting households to apply for available grants to help reduce energy debts.
✅ Assisting people with switching energy tariffs exploring ways to save money, as well as registering people for the Priority Service Register where applicable
✅ Providing small energy-saving measures to help households reduce energy use and costs.

✅ Referring to welfare and benefits advice support Carrying out benefits checks to help people identify potential benefits and financial support they may be entitled to, maximise their income.
✅ Completing home visits

✅ Supporting families to apply for essential white goods

✅ Helping individuals and families apply for crisis and emergency support when they need it most, this includes access to Food bank ,fuel bank, clothes bank, and baby bank.

Behind every application is a person or family who may be facing difficult circumstances. Whether it's reducing energy debt, maximising income, accessing essential household appliances, or finding emergency support, we're here to help people explore their options and access the support available to them.

We believe that by partnering with faith communities, where faith leaders play such an important role, this project will not only help reduce health inequalities but also ease pressure on the NHS by supporting preventions, early intervention and health communities.

🍕 A Slice of Community Spirit!

What a great day bringing our community together for a pizza party and litter pick!

We were joined by Community Housing In Partnership (CHIP), Helen from County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank, Rob from Sunderland BME Network, Allan Hendon Regenerative Culture Garden, our brilliant volunteers and the Fiscus team. See if you can spot some familiar faces in the photos below!

Together, we got out into our car park and garden, rolled up our sleeves and helped make our community a cleaner, brighter place. And after all that hard work, we enjoyed some well-deserved pizza together with ingredients from FareShare and of course our garden.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and got involved. It’s amazing what we can achieve when we work together. Hopefully we can keep this up as a monthly do and keep our spaces tidy!

Another lovely Monday in the FISCUS Warm Space

Last week, we made chicken salad wraps using food from FareShare, alongside fresh ingredients from our community garden, Hendon Regenerative Culture Garden

As always, a big, huge thank you to Allan for making the meals that much better with the fresh produce.

We’ve also been busy preparing ahead, making a fresh batch of tomato soup and getting jacket potatoes ready for future Warm Space sessions.

It’s great to see surplus food and homegrown produce being turned into nutritious, tasty meals for people in our community.

Terry & Anita are raising funds, bag packing at Adsa Grangetown from 11am this morning! Funds raised will support the cost of suitcases to take Bras to women & girls in Gambia this November and much needed underwear for people in crisis accessing FISCUS services in Sunderland ❤️🙏
