Supporting the community!

Last Friday, we were proud to support New Horizon Sunderland event by preparing 25 packed lunches and 25 stationery packs for children in the community.

A huge thank you to Morrisons for kindly donating highlights and Asda for a very generous donation of stationary and water bottles.

Amazing to see such great support for the community at such short notice too!

Carbon monoxide is a silent and potentially dangerous gas. You can’t see it, smell it or taste it, which is why knowing the risks and taking simple steps to stay safe is so important.

Prevent – Have your gas appliances checked and serviced regularly by a qualified engineer.

Detect – Make sure you have a working carbon monoxide alarm fitted in your home and test it regularly.

Awareness – Learn about the dangers of carbon monoxide and know what to do if you have concerns about gas safety.

The Fiscus Centre for Warmth Energy Team is here to help. Our team can provide advice and support around energy, gas safety and keeping your home safe and warm. WARM UP SUNDERLAND

What a fantastic day we had at Warm Up Sunderland here at Fiscus Charity last Monday.

Around 70 people joined us for an afternoon of quizzes, tombola, raffles, networking and, most importantly, meeting some of the amazing service providers and organisations we’ll be working alongside.

Thank you all for attending Gentoo Group, County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank, Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre, New Horizon SunderlandFriends of the Drop In - Sunderland, Sunderland BME Network, Culture Care North CIC !

It was a great opportunity to showcase what Warm Up Sunderland will be all about, including:

• Understanding and managing energy costs
• Home energy visits
• Referrals to specialist organisations
• Crisis support and interventions

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and helped make the event such a success. It was fantastic to see so many people coming together, making connections and finding out more about the support available.

A special thank you to our funders, Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme, for their support in making Warm Up Sunderland possible. We really appreciate your investment in this project and the difference it will help us make in the local community.

This is just the beginning, and we’re excited for what’s ahead for Warm Up Sunderland.

Today, our Energy Team had the pleasure of delivering a workshop at Christ Church, sharing practical tips and advice on how households can save energy, reduce their bills, and stay warmer for less. 💡🏠

We also shared information about the services Fiscus offers to support people in our community, including guidance and help available to those who may be struggling with energy costs.

What a fantastic response in our first 2 weeks of our Crowdfunder for My Sister's Kitchen! We have raised £3,286 so far with support from our crowd, friends, family, colleagues, community partners, Aviva Employees and Aviva Foundation! We have added some extra rewards to try to tempt you to support our campaign! FISCUS is currently giving out free pack lunches during the holidays to local children. My Sister's Kitchen will continue this from our new cafe and kitchen when it is refurbished. NO CHILD SHOULD GO HUNGRY. NO CHILD SHOULD GO WITHOUT. If you would like to support us, £10 will pay for packed lunches for a child for a week during the school holidays. With match funding from Aviva Foundation, your £10 will feed 2 children for a week 🥰 Please help and support us with this fab cause if you can spare £10 towards feeding a child in the holidays.

What a busy day at the Foodbank!

A huge thank you to the amazing team at County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank for everything they do. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our community has access to fantastic food and support, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Today, we treated our wonderful volunteers to some Lindt bunnies as a small thank you for everything they do. They give so much of their time to help others, and they deserve a little treat.

The Foodbank is now fully stocked, looking fantastic, ready for the Thursday morning Foodbank here at Fiscus.

We're running low on new, unopened underwear and could really do with your help.

We're looking for socks, knickers and bras. All sizes, genders and ages needed.

Please pop in and donate any items, big or small, we will be so grateful! Cash donations are also welcomed.

For hygiene reasons, we can only accept new, unopened underwear.
