Introducing Sunderland’s Ordinarily Available Offer.

Sunderland’s Ordinarily Available Offer (OAO) guidance sets out the support that education settings are expected to provide for children and young people with SEND as part of everyday practice.

This document may help families understand:
• What support should be available in schools and settings
• What you can expect as a parent/carer
• How settings support children and young people to thrive

The focus is on ensuring the right support is in place at the right time, enabling children and young people to succeed in their learning and development.

The guidance has been developed in partnership with headteachers, SENDCo’s, parents/carers, learners, and a range of education, health, and care partners through a range of engagement methods.

If you are unsure about the support that should be in place, this guidance is a good place to start.

This resource is free to access and download via the webpage below. Additional resources are also available on this page, including a one-minute guide to understanding Sunderland’s OAO and translated versions to support our families whose first language is not English.
