Just love our Davy Team ###x

May we introduce you to Tom, Go North and actually my friend since primary school. Terrific lad, giving his time to drive Davy to site and have ‘good craic’ with our Team and Guests.

Just as service started Tom called me to tell me a lad who we once helped came to see us about volunteering and giving something back, I wasn’t on shift but knew who the lad is, so contacted him last night and discussed working alongside us next year when we start Sunday lunches, he’s got his own home and in a good place now, just love when people turn their life around x

Getting a bit chilly on an evening so everyone really grateful for the hot drinks and support x

Good afternoon everyone x

Just having 5 mins to catch up on messages and just wanted to share what strives us to do more x

This out of area veteran, couldn’t be supported due to geographical issues. Born and schooled in Sunderland but moved away for 23 years so wasn’t allowed support when he returned to connect with family and move away from life that fuelled addiction which he desperately wanted out.

Joined us at Davy - Horsebox about 13 weeks ago, we gave him a tent, sleeping bag, food and more and this picture next to the bridge was one of my first photographs.

The AA Support Group led by Gerry (wonderful man) in our TriBeCa hub started a really amazing journey.

The team at Addictions North East based in Seaham brought him under their wing, provided daytime centre and housing on the road to recovery, for anyone who doesn’t know about this service, the residents have to go to the centre substance free and stay substance free to be part of programme.

This lad along with other veterans in the centre have fitted kitchen, supported an elderly veteran by sorting garden, the lad has helped us at our allotment, helped in TriBeCa and our kitchen. He even joined us to help on Davy, giving out snacks and drinks, helped chatted to visitors about his current journey, one man particularly interested in recovery, so really good support to others.
He’s really liked by our team, been attending football matches in our season ticket seats and our supporters donated money, so he has a month bus pass now, getting to meetings and all over the place, something as simple as a bus pass making such a difference.
Feedback the match wasn’t great yesterday, but loved atmosphere and being with our team and guests x

When we speak each day, he tells me how completely different his life is now, after decades struggling.

In our conversations, he advised he had tried other treatment programmes - unsuccessfully sadly, so his positive feedback of how this centre really keeps him on track, is just so great to hear each time we speak.

I ask how has your day been? Every day it’s positive, he has linked up with East Durham Veterans too, so the complete careplan going great for him x

From Tent To Terraces….just wanted to share what’s just great when a persons life going in a good direction x

His strength and courage with support has been his next steps and each lovely conversation we have just makes the world ok x

Good afternoon, I need to make an apology, we have this absolutely fabulous event taking please later this month and I’ve been working non stop day and night and simply haven’t focused enough.

The venue is great, I was there yesterday, the bar prices are really reasonable, the atmosphere and friendly people of the centre, have given us this opportunity to raise some funds for our charity on Saturday 24th October 2026.

We have quite a few spaces on the guest list, we have the added bonus of a £200 Dawson and Sanderson Gift Voucher for every person on arrival at the event, a free of charge ticket that will be drawn out during the event. Liaising with Dawson and Sanderson Team there was a fantastic coach trip in February for only £99 each, giving opportunity for two people to get away or the voucher can be redeemed toward a higher cost booking.

Dancing the night away, singing your favourite tunes, people sharing time, having tons of fun x

Just need a message with your names for our guest list, we can catch up with money next week, we are supplying nibbles on the tables so this will allow planning when we know final numbers.

There’s a raffle and tombola with some lovely prizes..
