Soundpost Our mission: To bring music, song and dance into people's lives through participation and performance. Come and join us – sign up for the newsletter!

Soundpost was started in 2011 by Fay Hield, Sam Sweeney, Andy Bell and Jon Boden to bring music, song and dance into people's lives through participation and performance. Since then Soundpost has grown into quite a beast, running four sold out weekends, day-long workshops study days, schools projects and supporting Royal Traditions. At the heart of all our events remains a commitment to develop practical skills with thinking attached whilst firmly recognising the value of entertainment.

Rachel Newton is a singer, harpist & composer who draws on poems, ballads & stories that are hundreds of years old, working them into her contemporary compositional style to create a rich sound that is ambitious, original & unique.

Award winning & a skilled collaborator, she has toured internationally with various bands and projects, including, the Lost Words: Spell Songs & The Furrow Collective !

We are so excited to have her perform in Sheffield at next month's Wild Traditions on Saturday 7th November!!

You may be a proficient musician looking to expand your repertoire - if so our Repertoire Building Group might be just the thing!

Meeting monthly & with full bursaries available if you need financial support, the welcoming group is a self-directed ensemble looking to explore tunes beyond the usual session format.

Saturday 3rd October Sheffield legends Jess & Rich Arrowsmith will launch their album "As Merry As May Be" at Wild Traditions!

Their work with Nancy Kerr & James Fagan as Melrose Quartet, not to mention numerous other projects, has not stopped them from putting together gorgeous new material, a mix of little known traditional songs alongside more recently written gems in the traditional style.

Expect expressive vocals and the instrumental talents of Rich on melodeon and Jess on fiddle, and plenty of choruses to join in with.

What more can we say - it's going to be great!

If you want to improve your confidence in singing, learn folk songs in a friendly group setting or just get out to meet new people, why not come along.

Professional folk singer Rosie Hodgson teaches new songs each week & vocal techniques. Open to beginners who haven't sung before & those with more experience. Everyone is welcome.
