Church Army was founded in 1882 by Wilson Carlile with a vision to train ordinary Christian men and women to reach those most in need with the Gospel. Since then, we've been working on estates, in schools, in places where there is no church presence and in communities struggling to make ends meet. Our vision is for everyone everywhere to encounter God's love, and be empowered to transform their co

mmunities through faith shared in words and action. Instead, we embrace it to make lives better. We are prayerful, risk-taking, accountable, collaborative, generous, unconditional. We are delighted to introduce Anjela Jones, who will be Admitted and Commissioned as a Church Army Evangelist on 11 July.

From volunteering on an outreach bus to preparing for her next steps as a Church Army Evangelist, Anjela's journey is a powerful story of God's faithfulness and calling.

Today, she shares the love of Jesus with children, young people and families across West Yorkshire, through a bus ministry and work with families. Through presence, persistence, and love, Anjela witnesses lives transformed by God’s love.

Meet Jon Brooks, who on 11 July, will be Admitted and Commissioned as a Church Army Evangelist.

Alongside a growing ministry centred on evangelism and prison chaplaincy, Jon balances his work as a tree surgeon and landscape gardener with family life in Aylesbury. After years of prayerful discernment, God led him to Church Army, where his passion for sharing the Gospel has been recognised, nurtured, and put into practice.

Jon’s story is a powerful reminder of how God continues to call ordinary people into extraordinary ministry.

A prayer for Pentecost Sunday:

This Pentecost, we pray for the Holy Spirit to fill each of us afresh as we share the hope and good news of Jesus.

Lord, equip and strengthen us for your mission. Lead us to those who are often overlooked and unseen, and help us to share your love with compassion, courage and grace.

We pray for Church Army evangelists across the UK & Ireland, that through meaningful connections and faithful witness, they may shine your light into the darkest places and lives would be transformed by your love.

Come, Holy Spirit. Amen.
