Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Graves Gallery, Kelham Island Museum, Millennium Gallery, Shepherd Wheel & Weston Park Museum Established in 2021, Sheffield Museums Trust cares for the city’s collections of art, human and industrial history, and natural science, alongside the Guild of St George’s John Ruskin collection and is home to the Ken Hawley Collection Trust’s Hawley Tool Collection. We work with our communities to tell the remarkable story of Sheffield and its people, and celebrate its reputation for excellence in craft, making and innovation. Supported by Sheffield City Council and Arts Council England.

Over the past few weeks, it’s been incredible to hear how much the opportunity to access great art means to you and the capacity for art to enrich life in our city.

Caring for and celebrating the city’s art collection & ensuring it’s there as a source of inspiration and connection for people, now and for generations to come, is a huge part of our work.

Good Morning 🌞 is here!

Good Morning: A Day in Art by Chantal Joffe & Ishbel Myerscough is open at the The Millennium Gallery now!

And we’d like to invite everyone to join us to celebrate the opening this latest exhibition on Wed 21 Oct, 5.30 – 7.30pm.

See the exhibition at this special evening event, grab a drink at the pay bar and be among the first to pick up one of the limited edition prints that Chantal Joffe and Ishbel Myerscough have each generously created to accompany the exhibition. The prints can be purchased exclusively from the Millennium Gallery shop, they’re available at a special price and all proceeds from their sale will directly support Sheffield Museums’ work as a charity to care for the city’s art collection and bring the very best in art to Sheffield and its people 🥰

Painters Chantal Joffe and Ishbel Myerscough have shared a close friendship and artistic dialogue for decades. And they’re coming to The Millennium Gallery this week!

Good Morning: A Day in Art by Chantal Joffe & Ishabel Myerscough

While distinct in style, their work is united in its exploration of family, friendship and the everyday.

Good Morning sees them trace the unfolding of a single day through the eyes of more than 80 artists. Presenting their own deeply personal paintings and drawings alongside works from Sheffield’s collection by William Blake, Prunella Clough, Paul Gauguin, David Hockney, Claudette Johnson and more, Joffe and Myerscough celebrate the quiet significance of ordinary experience.

From first light to nightfall, the portraits and domestic scenes they bring together invite visitors to reflect on those often-overlooked moments familiar to us all.

Free exhibition, please donate £5 if you can. Your donations make everything we do possible and helps us ensure that everyone can enjoy the best in art and design here, on their doorstep 💫

Make your own textured landscapes at Weston Park Museum, try print-making at the Millennium Gallery, and get stuck in to some spooky science at Kelham Island Museum! Plus, explore seasonally-themed trails across our sites (in return for a sticker of your choice! 🤩)

Join us for some 3D creative fun this half term and make your own relief artwork using found objects and craft materials.

🎨Stick, Colour, Print
Create your own colourful repeating print using textured papers and stickers - Collage your design, add some vibrant paint and then print, print, print! Plus, add to our collaborative large-scale print as well as make your own unique patterns to take away with you.

👻 Spooky Science
Back by popular demand, Spooky Science returns to help you make the slimiest slime, and learn all about the chemical reactions behind it too. Ready to bust a spooky move? You'll also have the chance to create your own dancing ghost using balloons, paper and static electricity!

We’re working with Jessop Wing Maternity to support Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 Oct), bringing people touched by pregnancy and baby loss together through opportunities to share their experiences and feel that they are not alone.

If you stop by The Millennium Gallery during this time, we’ll be hosting a special memory tree and a memory book where people are invited to leave a dedication and share their experiences of loss.
