The Sheerness lifeboat station was established in 1969 by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and is one of 235
Lifeboat stations around the shores of Great Britain and Ireland. The volunteer crew at Sheerness provide a maritime search and rescue service for the Kent coast. The station is equipped with the latest state of the art Shannon class all-weather lifeboat,13-38 'Judith Copping Joyce' and also a 'D' class inshore lifeboat D799 'Buster'.

⚓️ This weekend, it’s the Queenborough Classic Boat Festival! ⚓️

Today, our fundraiser Trev is at Queenborough Harbour with his fantastic model boats, while tomorrow our volunteer crew will be bringing along our all-weather lifeboat, Judith Copping Joyce.

Visitors can look around the lifeboat between 11am and 1pm, subject to operational requirements. Come along, meet the crew and see her up close! 🚤🧡

There will also be a range of historic vessels to explore, including MT Kent, X-Pilot: Kent’s Classic Pilot Vessel and a Thames sailing barge, as well as sea shanty performances throughout the weekend.

Sheppey FM will provide the music, the Isle of Sheppey Town Crier will be joining the event and The Little Blue Hut will be serving food and drinks.

Our volunteer crews have now been called out more than 70 times this year as a busy summer draws to a close 🌊

Over the bank holiday weekend, the inshore lifeboat was called to Grain Tower after a man became trapped as the tide came in and was unable to climb down safely.

Working with Coastguard, our crew brought the man and his rescuers safely ashore.

Some of our volunteer crew have recently been put through their paces at the RNLI College in Poole, Dorset 🌊

They took part in Crew Emergency Procedures, an intensive course covering vital lifesaving skills including sea survival, capsize drills and escaping from a capsized vessel

The college is the RNLI’s national training centre, where lifeboat volunteers and lifesavers from across the UK and Ireland prepare for the challenging situations they may face at sea.

Our volunteer crew have been out on the water carrying out anchoring exercises aboard our all-weather lifeboat, Judith Copping Joyce! 🚤🌊⚓

Regular training like this gives our crew the chance to practise vital skills and make sure they’re ready for whatever they may face when the pager sounds.

🏆 A huge congratulations to Trevor! 🏆

We’re incredibly proud to congratulate Trevor on receiving his Excellence in Volunteering Award (EVA) in recognition of an amazing 29 years of going above and beyond with his fundraising for the RNLI ❤️🌊

Nearly three decades of dedication and support is an incredible achievement, and we can’t thank Trevor enough for everything he has done to help save lives at sea.

Our volunteer crew recently took both our D class inshore lifeboat, Buster, and our all-weather lifeboat, Judith Copping Joyce, out for a training exercise alongside X-Pilot: Kent’s classic pilot vessel ⚓️

A great opportunity for our crew to train together and keep their skills sharp, ready for when the call comes 💙🛟

❤️ A huge thank you to Banks Restaurant and The Abbey Cake Shop! ❤️

An amazing £360.95 was raised for Sheerness Lifeboats at the Banks’ Charity Family Fun Day on Saturday! 🚤👏

A massive thank you to everyone at Banks Restaurant and The Abbey Cake Shop for their fantastic support, and to everyone who came along, donated, bought raffle tickets and helped make the day such a success.

Every penny raised helps support our volunteer crew and allows us to continue saving lives at sea 🌊❤️

We’re incredibly grateful to have such wonderful support from our local community. Thank you! 🙌

🚨 Shouts 62 & 63 🚨

Our volunteers were called out twice last Wednesday, 12 August.

⛵ Our all-weather lifeboat launched to assist a 30ft yacht near Garrison Point, with two crew members going aboard before helping the vessel safely to Queenborough.

🌊 Later that evening, our inshore lifeboat launched following reports of a person in the water/ a paddleboarder in difficulty near Rochester. The casualty was safely out of the water when crews arrived and was handed into the care of the coastguard.

A massive THANK YOU to Mondo Morgan and Stuart William Hunter following this year’s Fishy Friday fundraiser! 💙🐟

An incredible £900 was raised in total, with £450 donated to Sheerness RNLI and another £450 going to the Channel swim group, who were raising money to help fund children’s swimming lessons. 🏊‍♀️🌊

We’re hugely grateful to the organisers, as well as everyone who supported Fishy Friday, bought a meal or helped make the fundraiser possible.

Thank you for supporting our volunteer crew and another fantastic cause! ❤️🛟
