Our fundraiser volunteer Trev was back out representing Sheerness RNLI last month, with an amazing £123.72 raised at the Faversham Transport Festival on May 17 🚛
That total was added to the £15.64 raised at the Kent and East Sussex Railway 1940s event the day before, helping support the RNLI’s lifesaving work around our coasts and waterways 🛟
A huge thank you goes to RC Transport North Kent and Tamyia Trucking, who took some of the model boats and a collecting box up and down Faversham High Street on their mini models, raising an extra £15 in the process ⚓🛻
During the event, Trev also met Richard (pictured here) from RC Transport North Kent, whose family has a remarkable RNLI connection.
Richard’s great uncle survived the Rhoscolyn lifeboat disaster in December 1920, when the lifeboat capsized off the coast of Anglesey, Wales, while attempting to rescue a vessel called The Timbo of Whitby during severe weather conditions.
Tragically, five crew members lost their lives in the disaster, a stark reminder of the bravery shown by RNLI crews past and present.
Thank you to everybody who stopped to chat, donated, and supported the RNLI 💙
