Let’s help Sheerness bloom together 💚

We’re so excited to be working with Sheerness Town Council on the Sheerness in Bloom project, bringing more colour, life and community pride to our town.

Over the coming months, we will be organising volunteer days where local people can come together to create displays and care for plants and flowers for the community and wildlife to enjoy. Whether you love gardening or simply want to do something positive for your community, we would love to have you involved. Every helping hand really does make a difference. Keep an eye on our website and social media pages for more information.

Come and be part of Sheppey Womble Day 2026!

As part of the 'Festival of Sheppey', we’d love for you to join us in Eastchurch Village for a friendly community litter pick.

📆Thursday 4th June 2026
⏰1pm – 2pm
📍Meet at Eastchurch Village Hall

It’s a great chance to come together, make a difference, and help keep our lovely island looking its best. Whether you can stay for the whole hour or just pop along for a little while, your support will be appreciated.

All equipment will be provided, and there’ll be refreshments afterwards too.
Bring a friend, bring your neighbours, and let’s work together to care for our community.

💙 Our "Inspirational Art" group met last week to discover charcoal and explore different techniques. They followed a video and tried out some beautiful interpretations. They created some amazing pieces!

This group will meet again on Thursday 25th June from 1pm-3pm at 31 The Broadway, Sheerness ME12 1AB. This group is for ages 16-60* and open to anyone with a creative flair!

📣As part of National Volunteers' Week, we are proud to spotlight some of our wonderful volunteers! We couldn't do the work we do for our community without their time and support.

Lee Norris is a super all-rounder here at Sheppey Matters. At the moment, he helps us with setting up and coordinating our weekly English group and also in the office with our transport team. We always appreciate his positive approach, can-do attitude, and sense of humour.

"Volunteering helps me get out and keep busy, and it's also nice to help other people. I like what Sheppey Matters does, especially helping with people's mental health and wellbeing. My favourite thing about living on Sheppey is our beautiful beaches and the history."
