Wildcats is non-competitive football for girls who want to give it a go for the very first time or want to play with other girls their own age. Most importantly, Wildcats is all about having loads of fun and meeting amazing new friends.

We have around 6 spaces left each day, and we’re filling up fast this year. Next week, we’re only open from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Thursday, for our first-ever Halloween holiday club. Please message the page or Connie on 07725476185 to book your place today.

Next week, we’ve secured funding to run a free holiday club for young people who receive FSM, and £4 a day for those who don’t. The club will run from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Thursday.

The youth club building stood for 50 years.
Creating lasting memories for many many people of Blackburn and the surrounding areas.

As we say goodbye to the old building, we want to celebrate its history and everything it has meant to generations of young people.

Thanks to all of the local community for the continued support as we start to build an exciting future. The new youth club awaits!

🎃TRICK OR TREAT!? 💀

It’s that time again, where the staff and volunteers at the Lock get their spooky costumes on and deck out the boat and the centre in its finest cobwebs.

Our community boat trips are going on sale TOMORROW! For £5 per person, you’ll get to cruise down the canal and back, taking in the sights of the canal, all from the comfort of our widebeam boat.

Our boat is specially adapted for wheelchair users- take a look at the pinned reel on our page, to see what adaptions we have made and how they work.

Our crew and staff will be wearing fun, spooky costumes and the boat will be decorated too- to add some Halloween magic.

Tickets are limited, with each boat having a capacity of only 12 passengers. Please ensure all members of your booking party have a ticket- including babies in arms or carriers. We cannot allow any additional passengers to board the boat without a ticket- this is for insurance purposes.

Please also note that tickets are only available from our website. We have in the past had people selling fake tickets. To protect our customers and the community, we ask that you do not sell on your tickets without first confirming with us.

We have been awarded £1.2 million from the Youth Investment Fund to rebuild the Youth Club! We have also secured a new 50-year lease of the land.

We shared this exciting news with our young people last week. It was a massive turnout so thanks to everyone who attended.

Key Information:
• The current clubhouse will be demolished and replaced with a modern facility.
• The new site will have a similar shape and footprint to the current clubhouse, with an additional 80m² of internal/external space.
• The site will include a separate hall, activity room, office, kitchen and communal area.
• As well as a new patio at the rear of the club, which will create a better connection with the field and woodland.
• A new ramp will improve disability access for wheelchair users
• Other features will include CCTV, shutters, bike locks and bin storage.

Construction is due to begin in the coming weeks, and we aim to reopen in early 2027. From September, sessions will temporarily move to a local venue.

For this next chapter, we want to celebrate the history of the current building whilst we move forward as a charity. We also want to thank everyone who's been involved in this process from the Youth Investment Fund and local Council, as well as our Trustees, Youth Club team and most importantly the young people and local community!

RECRUITMENT: We're currently recruiting for cadets!

Do you know a young person who might be interested in volunteering as a police cadet?

Police cadets are volunteers who represent the force at community events and participate in a variety of activities and formal training. They also learn about various roles within the police.

Personal development, police powers, road safety and crime prevention are just some of the subjects you will explore as a cadet. You will also be expected to successfully pass a probationary period, attend a weekly district meeting held on a Wednesday evening and volunteer for additional activities that may take place on evenings and weekends, and be punctual at all times.

To become a cadet, you must complete an induction day and a first aid course. You must be age 15 by 31 August 2026 and no older than age 17 on 31 May 2026. You also need to live in South Yorkshire.
