New research from the University of Sheffield highlights the vital role community organisations play in tackling loneliness and isolation — particularly for racially minoritised older people

This reflects what we see every day at REMA. Trusted, community‑led spaces are not just services — they are lifelines. They bring people together, build confidence, reduce isolation and improve wellbeing over time, especially for those facing barriers linked to migration, language, discrimination and access to support.

A newly published briefing from the Ethnicity and Inclusive Ageing study provides recommendations for promoting inclusive ageing. This includes improving support for community organisations, which act as ‘anchors of inclusive ageing.’

We’re proud to kick off Mental Health Awareness Week across our services, creating safe and supportive spaces for people to come together, talk, and reflect.

Over the coming days, our groups will be having open discussions and exploring practical ways to support and strengthen mental wellbeing – for themselves, their families, and their communities.

We’ve already started these important conversations with our toddler group, women’s group, and ESOL classes, where participants are sharing experiences, building connections, and supporting one another in meaningful ways.

Taking time to check in with ourselves and each other is more important than ever. Together, we can promote understanding, reduce stigma, and ensure everyone feels heard, valued, and supported.

Over the Easter holidays, our Children and Young People Challenge Events brought lots of energy, creativity and smiles.

Young people took part in a wide range of activities including martial arts, boxing, cooking, sewing, a sports day, arts and crafts, and badminton. These sessions gave children and young people the chance to try something new, build confidence, stay active and have fun in a safe and supportive space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the Easter activities such a positive experience for our children and young people.

March was a lovely month full of celebration and connection at our toddler group. We marked International Women’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Eid, sharing different cultures and traditions together.

Families enjoyed traditional food, creative crafts, and dance and movement sessions, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. We also took time to focus on self‑care for mums, creating a relaxed and supportive space to connect and recharge.
