Opening Next Week at Garage Gallery: New Horizons by Margaret Hall

We’re excited to welcome artist Margaret Hall for her upcoming exhibition, New Horizons.

A self-taught artist inspired by light, colour, storytelling, and landscape, Margaret works across acrylic, oil, gouache, watercolour, and mixed media. Her exhibition explores journeys both real and imagined - from familiar Northern landscapes to distant planets, surreal scenes, themes of freedom and change, and experiments in new artistic directions.

The exhibition brings together landscape painting, sketchbooks, mixed media works, and more abstract explorations, reflecting Margaret’s ongoing curiosity and evolving practice.

Margaret is an active member of ROAR - we’re really looking forward to sharing this thoughtful and varied exhibition with you soon.

Join us for Opening Night:

4th June - 5.30pm - 7pm

Then open 10am - 3pm on 8th, 9th, 15th & 16th June.
Garage Gallery, Grove Road, S60 2ER

Bring something to discuss - an artist you love, an idea you’re developing, a question you’ve been thinking about, or simply yourself. Whether you want to share, listen, or meet other creatives, you’re very welcome.

We’re excited to launch a new Member Project Brief: Lucky Duck.

For this project, members are invited to create a mini exhibition designed for an audience of one. Instead of making work intended to appeal to everyone, artists will choose one specific person and create work especially for them. That person can be anyone - real or fictional, living or dead, famous or completely personal.

The project explores what happens when artists stop thinking about broad audiences and start thinking deeply about one individual connection. We’re encouraging experimentation, unusual ideas, personal references, humour, sincerity, and highly specific work.

Creativity can bring joy, connection, purpose, and expression - but it can also come with pressure, self-doubt, comparison, burnout, and the feeling that we always need to be producing more.

For Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to share a few reminders we think creatives need to hear more often.

Whether you’re feeling inspired, overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or somewhere in between - you are not alone in it.

Take what you need from these reminders 💛

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and we’ve been reflecting on the relationship between creativity and wellbeing.

Working creatively can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also come with pressure, uncertainty, self-doubt, burnout, and the feeling that we always need to be producing something.

We’ve put together a new blog post sharing some gentle reminders for creatives — covering things like creative rest, comparison, boundaries, burnout, asking for help, and protecting your wellbeing while navigating creative work.

A reminder that your worth is not measured by your productivity, and that creativity needs rest and care too 💛
