🎓✨ Well... that's a wrap folks! Academic Year 2025/26 is officially complete! ✨🎓

To celebrate an amazing year, we treated our young people to a day at the beautiful Chatsworth House and what a day it was!

We explored the stunning house, wandered through the incredible gardens, took on the maze, and enjoyed a delicious lunch made with produce from the Chatsworth Estate farms. 🏰🌳🍽️

Our adventure then continued at the farm, where we fed goats and sheep, met lots of friendly animals, and had the opportunity to watch a live milking session while learning all about goat's milk production. One of the goats was particularly cheeky and seemed determined to steal the spotlight! 🤣🐐
What made the day truly special was seeing the awe and wonder on our young people's faces. Every room, every garden path, every animal and every new experience sparked excitement and curiosity. It was incredibly humbling to witness.

The most surprising part? Not one of our young people had ever visited Chatsworth House before.
Days like today are a reminder of how important it is to create opportunities for young people to experience new places, learn new things, and make lasting memories. The smiles, laughter and conversations on the journey home said it all. ❤️
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our young people throughout the year. We couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved.
Now it's time for a well-deserved summer break... before we do it all again next year! ☀️🎉

🌟 Today, Affinity 2020 CIC staff took young people out into the heart of Rotherham to learn about the local economy in a way that no classroom can replicate.
The group explored the concept of the Rotherham £1 (or as we call it up north, a good old quid! 💷), discovering how spending locally helps support local businesses and keeps money circulating within the community.

A visit to the new Rotherham Markets gave young people the chance to explore local traders and see entrepreneurship in action, before heading to Forge Island for breakfast and a discussion about investment, regeneration and local opportunities.
Because learning about the local economy doesn't have to happen behind a desk. Sometimes the best way to understand it is to get out there, live it and be part of it.

❤️ What a day!

Today has been one of those days where we get to see young people's faces light up with pride and confidence as they receive their qualification outcomes.

There is something incredibly special about watching young people recognise just how far they have come. Qualifications are important, but so too are the skills, experiences, resilience and self-belief gained along the way. Together, they form the backpack that will support them on their next steps into education, employment and adulthood.

One of our graduates summed up the journey perfectly at a recent public speaking event:

"I arrived with nothing, I left with everything."

Those words have stayed with us. They speak to the power of opportunity, belonging, encouragement and the unwavering belief that every young person has potential.

Days like today also remind us of the passion and determination that exists across the not-for-profit sector. Every day, organisations, educators, mentors and employers work tirelessly to improve life chances and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
To every young person celebrating today: well done. We are incredibly proud of you. Your hard work, courage and determination have paid off, and we can't wait to see where your journey takes you next. 🌟

What a fantastic (and very warm!) day at Affinity!
Today, we were honoured to welcome Hilary Chapman HM Lord-Lieutenant to Affinity 2020 CIC.

Despite the soaring temperatures, we somehow managed to keep our sweating reasonably under control with a combination of fans, good humour, and some truly meaningful conversations.

We discussed the aspirations of our care-experienced young people, exploring careers, skills development, employability, and the opportunities needed to help them thrive in the world of work.

As always, our CEO was incredibly proud of my team. Their passion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to our young people shone through in every conversation.

The photo from today tells its own story! Yes, we were all dressed appropriately for the red-hot weather, although there may have been a few ruffles around the edges by the end of the visit—particularly our hair! As Leo kept pointing out, "Wow, my hair is much curlier than normal!" I think the heat and humidity won that battle for all of us. 😄

A huge thank you to HM Lord-Lieutenant Hilary Chapman for taking the time to visit us. We genuinely appreciated your insight, compassion, local knowledge, and enthusiasm for creating connections that can help open doors for the young people we support.

Days like today remind us of the power of partnership and the importance of working together to ensure care-experienced young people have every opportunity to achieve their aspirations.

Last night, our CEO Charlotte Elliott did something pretty special, she was awarded South Yorkshire Higher Degree Apprentice of the Year ✨

What makes this even more meaningful is that Charlotte will be the first to say she’s never won anything like this before. This isn’t someone chasing awards, it’s someone quietly putting in the work, day in and day out, to make a difference.

Charlotte is currently completing a Level 7 apprenticeship with Whyy? Change, something she once thought wouldn’t be possible without stepping away to go to university full-time. Instead, she’s chosen to keep showing up for the young people and communities she supports, while learning, growing, and leading at the same time.

We also want to recognise the incredible support from the team at Whyy Change, alongside Team Affinity, who continue to back Charlotte as she balances earning and learning in a way that truly reflects what modern leadership can look like.

This award isn’t just about one moment, it represents resilience, commitment, and a belief that there are different pathways to success.
