๐Ÿช Oreo Challenge Time! ๐Ÿช

Our young people took on the ultimate Oreo challenge this week! The aim was simple: roll an Oreo down the table and see which circle it landed in. The catch? Each circle matched a mystery topping!

Some were lucky enough to get delicious toppings like chocolate, yoghurt, or golden syrup, while others faced more unusual combinations including pickled onions, spaghetti bolognese baby food, and cranberry sauce! ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜‚

No matter what topping they landed on, everyone got involved, showed fantastic resilience, and gave it a go. We were so impressed by their willingness to step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and embrace the challenge with smiles and laughter.

Well done to everyone who took part, you were all brilliant! ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

In his BBC interview, Gareth Southgate spoke powerfully about the growing need for positive male role models and the challenges facing young boys today. Too many are falling out of education, becoming vulnerable to crime and gangs, and missing out on the opportunities that previous generations found through youth clubs, sports teams, and community groups.

This is why youth work matters.

Youth workers provide trusted relationships, safe spaces, guidance, and a sense of belonging when young people need it most. They help build confidence, resilience, aspirations, and positive futures.

At Berkshire Youth, we see the impact of youth work every day. Investing in young people is more than just important, it's essential. By supporting youth services, we're helping to ensure that every young person has access to the role models, opportunities, and support they deserve.

๐ŸŒŸ Could You Volunteer With Berkshire Youth? ๐ŸŒŸ

This Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating the incredible people who give their time to support children and young people across Berkshire.

From helping at youth clubs and community activities to supporting trips, events and projects, our volunteers play a vital role in creating safe spaces where young people can learn, grow and thrive. This film shows you some of things our volunteers take part in at our youth clubs.

You don't need previous youth work experience, just enthusiasm, reliability and a desire to make a difference. Whether you can spare a few hours each month or a few hours each week, there are a variety of ways to get involved.

Volunteering with Berkshire Youth is a chance to:
โœ… Give something back to your local community
โœ… Support children and young people to reach their potential
โœ… Meet new people and be part of a fantastic team
โœ… Gain valuable skills and experience
โœ… Make a real difference to young lives

If you've ever thought about volunteering, now is the perfect time to get involved.

๐Ÿ’™ Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Eve ๐Ÿ’™

As part of Volunteers' Week, we'd like to shine a spotlight on one of our amazing volunteers, Eve.

Week in, week out, Eve gives her time to support young people at the Waterside Centre, often helping out more than once a week. Her enthusiasm, kindness and dedication make a huge difference to everyone who walks through our doors.

Eve is a real linchpin of our youth club sessions. The children and young people absolutely adore her, and her friendly face, warmth, encouragement and commitment make a huge difference to the young people she supports every week at Waterside.

Volunteers like Eve are at the heart of what we do. We simply couldn't deliver the range of opportunities and support we offer without people like her.

Thank you, Eve, for everything you do for Berkshire Youth and the young people we support. You're amazing! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐ŸŽ‰ Volunteers' Week 2026 ๐ŸŽ‰

This week, we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who give their time, skills, energy and passion to support Berkshire Youth and the young people we work with across Berkshire.

From helping run youth clubs and activities, to offering a listening ear, a warm welcome, making a hot drink, organising events, supporting trips, or simply asking a young person "How was your day?", our volunteers make a difference every single day.

They are the friendly faces, trusted adults and positive role models who help create safe spaces where children and young people can thrive.

Quite simply, we couldn't do what we do without them.

To every volunteer, past and present, thank you. Your commitment, kindness and dedication help strengthen our communities and transform young lives.
