Berkshire Youth works with about 12,500 young people across Berkshire every year. Youth work is voluntary for young people & we have their best interests at the heart of all we do.

An exciting opportunity for West Berkshire Youth Council to meet one of its original members, Lee Dillon MP! 💬

Some of our members joined the recent Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group Political Working Lunch at Waterside Centre Newbury, where Lee took time for a round-table discussion with the young people.

They put some thoughtful, challenging questions to him, and Lee shared advice drawn from his own experiences. Thank you, Lee, for listening and encouraging the next generation to make their voices heard.

West Berkshire Youth Council is an initiative run by Berkshire Youth alongside West Berkshire Council, giving young people a say in the decisions that affect their lives.

October Half Term Youth Club activities for ages 10–14! 🎉

We’ve got three fun-filled sessions with sports, arts & crafts, board games, team building, science experiments, cooking and much more!

📍 Rainbow Park – Monday 26th October
📍 Oakwood Centre – Tuesday 27th October
📍 Centre Point, Earley – Thursday 29th October
⏰ 10am–2pm

Paid places are available, with discounts for those in Woodley thanks to funding from Woodley Town Council & Wokingham Lions.

🎃 A Spooktacular Halloween Party for Our Young Carers! 👻

Our young carers had a fang-tastic time celebrating Halloween, enjoying some spooky fun, festive decorations and plenty of Halloween spirit! 🧡

A huge thank you to Tesco Wokingham for their very kind donation of 12 pumpkins and light-up balloon decorations. Your generosity helped make the party extra special, and we really appreciate your support!

It’s so important that our young carers have opportunities to relax, have fun and spend time together, making happy memories away from their caring responsibilities.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special occasion!

Our Earley October Half Term Activities are taking place at Centre Point, Earley on Thursday 29th October, for young people aged 10–14.

Expect sports, arts & crafts, board games, team challenges, science experiments, cooking and more! 10am–2pm, £10 per session.

Places must be booked in advance, so get in touch to secure a place.

Join us at Oakwood Centre on Tuesday 27th October for a day of sports, arts & crafts, board games, team building, science experiments, cooking and more!

For young people aged 10–14, 10am–2pm.

💷 £3 per session for young people from Woodley postcodes (subsidised by Woodley Town Council & Lions Club), or £10 for non-Woodley postcodes.

Young people deserve to be heard, especially in conversations about their future. 💬

On Friday, we welcomed Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group and Lee Dillon MP to the Waterside Centre for a Political Working Lunch.

We were delighted that so many young people could join us, including West Berkshire Youth Council, who took part in a round-table discussion with Lee during the afternoon.

We also shared how Berkshire Youth helps young people find their next steps, including those who are not currently in education, employment or training.

Sometimes, before someone feels ready to apply for a job or return to learning, they need someone who listens, sees their strengths and keeps believing in them when things are difficult.

That’s the power of youth work. A trusted relationship can help a young person rebuild confidence, explore opportunities and feel hopeful about what comes next.

But youth workers can’t do it alone. Schools, employers, services and the wider community all have a part to play in making sure young people have the opportunities and encouragement they deserve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, especially the young people who shared their views. 💙
