Back by popular demand we invite you to A Night of Blues 'n' Boogie featuring three great acts and a wonderfully varied and thrilling night of blues on Sat 20 Jun in our Sherling Studio. 🎸🎤

The internationally renowned Craig Milverton joins the stylish Harry Skinner with his captivating voice and enigmatic guitar playing - followed in set two by the dynamic and commanding vocals of Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion and their four piece-Hammond organ driven contemporary blues. 🎹

This is a truly exceptional night of blues. 'You really shouldn't miss the opportunity to enjoy them live' (Brian Harrington, Newbury Times).

🎬 This Thursday 4 June we invite parents/carers to book for a screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2 (12A) with your little ones of 12 months and under - at our first Parent & Baby screening at Lighthouse Cinema. 👠🍼✨

House lights will be slightly raised and the volume lowered to keep your little ones comfy, so you can feel safe and relax with your baby while you lose yourself to the big screen. One of our friendly ushers will be present, so if you need anything, just ask. 👶🏽

🎬 Glastonbury The Movie - The 30th Anniversary Cut (12A) is 'Marvellously honest, beautifully shot. The most impressive festival movie this reviewer has seen' (The Cut) and it's coming to Lighthouse Cinema from Fri 26 June. 🎶🎛️

This is the Glastonbury that exists only in memory before the BBC arrived, before phone masts and wall-to-wall coverage, before tickets sold out in minutes, before it all changed. Hailed as 'a masterpiece' by Mike Leigh and selected for 8 international film festivals, this film has been rebuilt in 4k from the original Panavision negatives, new scenes added, new Dolby 5.1 mix, every frame restored. The result is extraordinary. Back on the big screen. Thirty years on.

'One of the defining English fiddle players of his generation' (Mark Radcliffe).

The Sam Sweeney Trio brings together three of the UK's most compelling folk musicians to play music from across his discography, with Sam Sweeney on violin, Ben Nicholls on double bass and Louis Campbell on guitar. 🎻

Known for his expressive playing and bold musical vision, Sam will be playing richly textured arrangements of traditional and original material. This is a rare, one night only gig you won't want to miss. 🎵

... 1 June 1980 Chuck Berry

The penultimate night of a seven-date UK tour for the original rock ‘n’ roller who inspired the Beatles and the Stones. He’d been in great form the night before at a poorly attended ballroom gig on the Norfolk coast, from where he set out for Poole in a limo with his daughter Ingrid and bassist Jimmy Marsala. Accounts from the tour vary, but it seems he played anything from 50 minutes to more than 90 depending on how much audiences danced. Drummer Mike Hague remembers Chuck Berry was fairly well-behaved (for Chuck!) during the tour - he never turned up for soundchecks but only once bellowed “Leave the stage!” at a band member mid-set.

Here’s a photo from the tour, but were you in the Wessex Hall audience as the late, great rocker made his only known visit to Poole? We’d love to hear about it if you were.
