The Pontardawe Royal British Legion branch has worked in collaboration with the local town council to establish a yearly garden of remembrance in the village. Today was the official opening attended by the mayor, local schools, local Air cadets and the branch to plant crosses for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and loved ones. If any members of the public wish to add a cross in remembrance please feel free. Our thanks to our president Elizabeth Lewis for representing the branch and all your hard work getting this established.

On this day in 1940, the Battle of Britain began.
Over the months that followed, RAF pilots and aircrew stood on the frontline of Britain’s defence, facing overwhelming pressure in the skies above our country.
Their courage, skill and sacrifice helped change the course of the Second World War and secured their place in history as “The Few.”
Today, we remember all those who served during the Battle of Britain — in the air, on the ground, and across the wider war effort.
Their bravery will never be forgotten.
Lest we forget. 🌺
