We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our YMC Womenโs Touch Rugby Charity Tournament such an amazing day. What started as an idea turned into a brilliant community event, and we are so proud of what was achieved.
Huge Congratulations to our Tournament ๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ - Resolven Hillbetties - Womenโs touch rugby team and ๐ฅ๐๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฝ - Seven Sisters RFC Stormers!! Both Teams played superb!!
A massive thank you to Glynneath Rfc and Glynneath Bees - Mixed Ability Rugby Team for being such amazing hosts and making us feel so welcome.
Thank you to ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ at MAC In-Sight Photography, who took time out of his Saturday to come along and capture the day so beautifully. His photographs are absolutely stunning and show just how special the event turned out to be. We have attached some of the YMC photos to this post, but please go over to Matthewโs page, give it a follow and have a look through the wider tournament photographs too.
A huge thank you to ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ณ๐ณ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ธ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ป, who did not stop all day cooking, making hot drinks and keeping everyone fed and watered. The cutest couple Iโve ever seen!
Thank you to our headteacher, ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐น๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ, who was stuck in the stands all day announcing over the tannoy system, working the claxon and keeping the day running.
Thank you to all our volunteers who helped on the day, including those manning the ๐๐น๐น ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฆ๐ต๐ผ๐ฝ, selling programmes, taking entry fees, helping with set-up, supporting the event and keeping everything moving.
Thank you to ๐๐ป๐๐ต๐ผ๐ป๐, ๐ฅ๐๐ฎ๐ป, ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐, ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐, and to ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ for your support. Without your participation, we would not have had the turnout or the atmosphere we did.
A special thank you to ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฃ๐ , our tournament sponsors, who donated so generously to support the whole tournament. They paid for our kit in full, donated towards food and trophy costs, and made a huge financial difference to the day. Please take a look at what they do here: https://www.academy4pm.com/
Thank you to our own ๐ฌ๐ ๐ ๐๐น๐น ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ, who worked incredibly hard from February right through to tournament day to help give our school community such a brilliant turnout. Many of our players had never played in a game before, let alone a tournament, and we are so proud of every single one of them.
A huge thank you also to ๐๐ฎ๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ and ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ for giving up your Wednesdays to help train our new emerging team, to coaches ๐ก๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ & ๐๐ป๐๐ต๐ผ๐ป๐ and ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ the ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป from ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ for giving some of our inexperienced players additional training, building their confidence and helping them improve enough to compete on the day, and to ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ป for coaching the girls from the side line on the day. They were so glad you could make it!
And of course, thank you to ๐ ๐ฎ๐
๐๐ผ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ, our surprise celebrity guest, who we did not know was going to be there, for presenting the winners, runners-up and plate trophies. What a lovely surprise for everyone.
Finally, I need to give recognition to us as a ๐ฃ๐ง๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ฒ. I am incredibly proud of what we were able to achieve this weekend. So much work went on behind the scenes, and it all came together into a day that beautifully and genuinely showed the heart of our school community.
Thank you to every player, sponsor, volunteer, supporter, family member and friend who came along, helped, donated, shared, cheered or supported in any way.
As soon as we have finalised the total from the tournament and the events leading up to it, we will let everyone know what you helped raise for our amazing pupils.
Letโs build on this and make next year even bigger and better.
