In this heat, please remember…
hydration is not just important, it’s essential.
For older people, people living with dementia, carers, children, and anyone spending long periods outdoors or in warm spaces, dehydration can happen very quickly and may lead to dizziness, confusion, headaches, fatigue, urinary infections, or increased distress and anxiety.
A few simple reminders:
💧 Sip water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty
🧃 Include squash, milk, or water-rich foods like melon and cucumber
🧊 Keep rooms cool where possible and avoid the hottest part of the day
☕ Limit too much caffeine or alcohol in the heat
👀 Check in on neighbours, relatives, and vulnerable people
Sometimes a simple drink and a quick check-in can make a huge difference.
Stay safe, stay cool, and look after one another.
