What a wonderful and memorable evening as we celebrated GLADCA’s 54th AGM and Awards Evening on 21 October 2026!

We proudly reflected on another remarkable year of growth, achievements, community impact and national recognition, including becoming a Top 10 National Finalist at the National Diversity Awards 2026 and securing five years of National Lottery Reaching Communities funding, strengthening our services and long-term sustainability.

We were particularly privileged to have Jonathan Jelley MBE representing the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and His Majesty The King, who kindly presented awards and shared inspiring words recognising GLADCA’s contribution to the community.

🏆 The evening was a wonderful celebration of our ESOL learners' achievements, dedicated volunteers and outstanding young volunteers from Jack Hunt School, recognising their hard work, determination and invaluable contributions.

❤️ With over 50 years of service, more than 12,000 people supported annually and 75+ nationalities, GLADCA continues to be a place where people from all backgrounds come together, build friendships, develop skills and create better futures.

A heartfelt thank you to our Chairman, Trustees, staff, tutors, volunteers, funders, partners, distinguished guests and everyone who joined us to make the evening such a success.

At a time when division and intolerance can separate communities, GLADCA stands as a symbol of unity, hope, inclusion and belonging.

🎉 GLADCA JOB FAIR 2026 – BREAKING BARRIERS, CREATING OPPORTUNITIES! 🎉

What a fantastic turnout at our GLADCA Community Job Fair on 8 October 2026!

We were delighted to welcome over 100 attendees, including 20+ refugees, connecting our diverse communities directly with employers, recruitment teams and local organisations.

🌟 Some fantastic outcomes from the day:

✅ 5 attendees progressed towards employment opportunities, particularly in mechanical engineering and automotive services.

✅ 4 people lined up for engineering job interviews.

✅ 3 refugees with professional cleaning experience were signposted to potential employment opportunities.

✅ Many attendees expressed interest in MOT testing, vehicle maintenance and garage training opportunities.

✅ Lloyds Bank helped 2 people open bank accounts and supported 3 others with digital banking.

✅ Cambridgeshire Police and Fire & Rescue recruitment teams provided valuable career information, with many parents taking recruitment information home for their children aged 18+.

✅ Kidney Research engaged with members of our Asian communities about future research opportunities.

💡 Breaking down barriers

One important finding was that QR codes and online job applications remain a barrier for people with limited English and digital skills.

This reinforces why GLADCA's ESOL, Digital Skills and CV & Employability Workshops are so important. We don't just help people learn new skills — we help them put those skills into practice and connect directly with employers.

❤️ A huge thank you to Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue, Lloyds Bank, Kidney Research, Intuitive Thinking Skills and SK BR Ltd for supporting our community.

☕💙 GLADCA Monthly Health & Wellbeing Coffee Morning – Diabetes Awareness 💙☕

Today we had an excellent and very interactive Coffee Morning session on Diabetes Awareness, Management and Healthy Lifestyles.

It was wonderful to see so many members of our community taking part, asking questions and learning more about diabetes prevention, managing diabetes and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices.

Our monthly Health & Wellbeing Coffee Mornings are an important part of GLADCA’s work, bringing health professionals and our communities together to raise awareness, promote prevention and empower people with the knowledge to make positive choices about their health and wellbeing.
A huge thank you to everyone who delivered, attended and participated in today's session. 💙👏

🏆 GLADCA NATIONALLY RECOGNISED AT THE NATIONAL DIVERSITY AWARDS 2026 🏆

We are incredibly proud to share that GLADCA has received national recognition at the prestigious National Diversity Awards 2026, receiving an Achievement Certificate as a shortlisted finalist in the Community Organisation Award for Race, Religion & Faith.

To be recognised on a national platform, following over 85,000 votes, is a tremendous achievement and a powerful recognition of GLADCA’s more than 50 years of dedicated service to our communities.

For over five decades, GLADCA has stood at the heart of the community, supporting people regardless of race, faith, background or circumstances. Today, we support thousands of people from over 75 nationalities, helping individuals and families build confidence, independence and opportunities for a better future.

A very special thank you to Inspire Education Group (IEG) for nominating GLADCA and recognising the impact of our work. Your nomination gave us the opportunity to have our work recognised nationally.
