A neuroaffirmative therapeutic approach looks beyond the visible behaviour and considers the young person’s wider emotional experience.

Creating a space where an ADHD adolescent does not feel judged or expected to hide parts of themselves can support trust, self-understanding and a more positive sense of identity.

Do you have an interest in supporting ADHD adolescents through your service? Are you looking for practical guidance to help you better understand their experiences and respond confidently within your professional role?

Mentoring: ADHD Adolescence is an unusual and highly specialised training programme for psychotherapists, therapists, counsellors and other professionals working with adolescents.

Through a neuroaffirmative and strengths-based approach, the training explores emotional regulation, executive functioning, identity, self-esteem, masking, hormones, relationships, education, family dynamics and the transition from childhood into adolescence.

Participants will receive practical therapeutic tools, case studies and guidance that can be adapted to different therapeutic approaches and professional settings.

The course includes a comprehensive workbook, certificate of attendance and access to a peer-support group.

Developed by ADHD specialist and Therapeutic Counsellor Terri Lloyd and delivered by Psychotherapist Jenny Ní Fhionnusa.
