East Community Centre Relaunches Vital Local Services
Light House Community Group, the charity that runs the East Community Centre, has relaunched a wide range of community services for local residents. The launch event on 20th September 2025 was officially opened by the Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr Judy Fox, alongside strong support from local councillors, Cllr Dr. Shabina Asad Qayyum (Leader of Peterborough City Council and East Ward Councillor), Cllr Samantha Hemraj (East Ward), and Cllr Numan Ali Iqbal (East Ward) and Andrew Pakes MP.
Services now available include a Community Fridge, Hygiene Bank, drop-in sessions for tea and coffee, and room hire for weddings, birthdays, education, and wellbeing activities. The Centre has also welcomed new partners such as Age UK, who will soon be setting up a Friendship Club.
“This relaunch is about more than just services – it’s about trust, partnership, and making the East Community Centre a place where residents feel supported and connected,” said Patrick Kadewere, Chair of Light House Community Group.
