Scotland’s nature is in crisis—but is our government doing enough to save it? 󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Scottish Government’s plan to halt nature loss by 2030 is ambitious, but a plan is only as good as its results. We’ve launched a brand-new Progress Tracker to hold public agencies to account by monitor 136 critical actions.

The current stats:

1 in 7 actions are complete.

Over a third are delayed or haven’t even started.

Scottish marine protected areas are meant to be a haven for Scotland’s wildlife, yet destructive industrial fishing practices like dredging and bottom trawling are still a reality in these "protected" zones.

We are calling for a public consultation, within the first 100 days of the new parliament, on finally implementing the restrictions our oceans need—but we can’t do it without you.

Nature cannot remain the background issue it’s been during this election campaign.

While our wildlife and seas are the heart of our culture, Scotland remains one of the most ecologically degraded countries in the world.

Despite the looming deadlines to stop biodiversity loss by 2030 and significantly restore nature by 2045, the future of our planet has remained "low profile" during this campaign—yet evidence shows most people in Scotland and the UK want government to act.

It is crucial for the Scottish Government to focus on restoring nature and tackling climate change in this next parliament.
