๐Ÿ’š International Day of Charity | Be part of our story

Today is . ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

And we'd like to use it to say two things.

. And .

Because when we think about at Perth & Kinross Foodbank, we don't just think about money.

We think about people supporting people.

๐Ÿฅซ The tin popped into a supermarket collection point.

โฐ The who gives us a few hours of their week.

๐Ÿ“ฑ The person who shares one of our posts so it reaches somebody new.

๐Ÿš The driver collecting from across .

๐Ÿค The business that offers its time, skills or resources.

๐Ÿ’ฌ The who makes a or tells someone where they can find help.

๐ŸŒพ The , or joining our .

๐Ÿ’ท And yes, every single person who chooses to financially to keep our doors open and our shelves stocked.

Individually, some of those things might feel quite small.

Together, they're what makes this wee organisation work.

This summer alone, we supported 1,926 people across Perth and Kinross with .

We couldn't do that alone. And we wouldn't want to.

Because the Foodbank we've been trying to build is about much more than distributing food.
It's about .
It's about .
It's about .
It's about creating a where someone going through a difficult chapter knows there are people around them who care.

So, on , we'd love to invite you to become part of that story. . . . . .

something. . . . our work. Start a conversation. Join our . Tell someone about us.

There are lots of ways to . Find the one that works for you. ๐Ÿ’š

And to everyone already walking alongside us - our , , , , , and wider :

for being part of our story.

We hope you're as proud of this special wee organisation as we are.

๐ŸŒฑ Stronger communities.
๐Ÿค People supporting people.
๐Ÿ’š A fairer, kinder Perth and Kinross.

โšฝ๐Ÿ’™ THE SAINTS ARE BACK IN ACTION... AND SO ARE THIS LOT! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฅซ

A wee belated shout-out to our brilliant pals at St Johnstone Fans Supporting Foodbanks , who'll be back at McDiarmid Park this Sunday for St. Johnstone Football Club v Hibernian Football Club . โšฝ๐Ÿ™Œ

While the teams battle it out on the pitch, the Johnstone Fans Supporting Foodbanks gang will once again be doing their bit off it - collecting food, toiletries and household essentials for Perth & Kinross Foodbank . ๐Ÿ’š

And after the summer we've just had, their continued support couldn't be more appreciated.

If you're heading to the match and you're in a position to help, why not pop an extra item or two into your bag before you leave home? ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿฅซ๐Ÿงด

Our most-needed items include:

๐Ÿฅ˜ Vegetarian main meals
๐Ÿฅ• Tinned vegetables
๐Ÿ Pasta
๐Ÿฎ Puddings & custard
๐ŸŸ Tinned fish
๐Ÿฅ› UHT milk
โ˜• Tea bags
๐Ÿ‘ถ Nappies โ€“ sizes 6, 7 & 8
๐Ÿงด Shampoo
๐Ÿงป Toilet roll

๐Ÿ“ : Between the Geoff Brown (Main) and Ormond (Away) Stands
โฐ Collection: 1.30pmโ€“2.45pm

What we love about this is its consistency.

Match after match. Season after season. The Saints community keeps showing up. ๐Ÿ’™

A tin here. A packet there. Small individual acts which, when a whole gets behind them, become something much bigger.

, as always, to the gang for giving up your Sunday, and to every supporter who continues to rally around your local community. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

Have a cracking game - and we'll see those lovely crates back at Foodbank HQ next week! ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ˜‚

04/09/2026

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’š | , by the numbers... and behind the numbers.

We've been a little quieter than usual on our socials this week, not because there's been nothing happening. Quite the opposite. ๐Ÿ˜…

As arrives, the mornings get a little cooler and it starts to feel suspiciously like has arrived in Perthshire, we've been taking some time to look back at our summer.

For us, that's the three months from 1 June to 31 August.
And the numbers tell quite a story.

โ˜€๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ฆ 1,036 emergency 3-day distributed
๐Ÿ‘ฅ 1,364 adults supported
๐Ÿง’ 562 children supported
๐Ÿ’š 1,926 people fed across Perth and Kinross
๐Ÿ  591 individual households came through our doors.
๐Ÿ†• 187 of them came to us for the very first time.
And more than 1 in 4 parcels (27.22%) went to households with children.

But there's another set of numbers we've been looking at. . . .

During those three months, 17,760.76kg of stock came into Perth & Kinross Foodbank HQ. And 17,818.13kg went back out.

Keeping enough of the right food on our shelves has meant purchasing 5,891.36kg ourselves. For comparison, during the same summer period in 2025, we purchased 1,982.5kg.
That's almost three times as much food we've had to buy to maintain a of the that make up our emergency .

That's a statistic we're paying very close attention to.

And perhaps it explains why, despite the summer being officially over, there hasn't exactly been an opportunity to put our feet up. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This week alone we've supported another 155 people.
We've sat in meetings and conversations.
We've continued preparing for our new with the brilliant Scottish Tech Army.
We've hosted a Financial Insecurity meeting of the Anti-Poverty Taskforce
We've launched our . ๐ŸŒพ
We've started using the C-word in the office... ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ˜ณ
We've placed one of our biggest-ever online stock orders, ready to arrive next week and replenish a warehouse that's looking rather more empty than we'd like. Look out Thursday team!

And somewhere amongst all of that...
We've laughed.
We've cried.
We've sat on the floor and debriefed after .
We've given hugs.
And, behind closed doors, we've turned to one another for a few when we've needed them ourselves. ๐Ÿ’š

Because perhaps that's the bit statistics will never capture.

1,926 people tells you something about the scale of the summer.

17.8 tonnes of food tells you something about the logistics.

5.9 tonnes purchased tells you something about the pressure on our resources.

But none of those numbers can tell you what it takes from people to make it all happen.

And that brings us to our usual Friday question...

What truth do we need to sit with this week?

Maybe it's this: Sometimes the work nobody sees is the work that keeps everything else going.

The meetings.
The stock orders.
The spreadsheets.
The difficult conversations.
The plans for three months from now.
The colleague who notices you're struggling.
The thirty-minute sitting on the floor in various states of disarray.
The laugh at precisely the moment everyone needs one.

None of it appears in our food parcel statistics.

All of it matters.

So, we're closing the door on and heading into with plenty to think about.

We're concerned about the level of demand.
We're keeping a very close eye on our stock.
And we'd be lying if we said the approaching colder months don't make us a little nervous.

But we're also heading into them with , , an extraordinary group of , and supporters, and a team that knows when it's time to roll up its sleeves - and when it's time to sit on the floor together for thirty minutes. ๐Ÿ’š

Summer 2026 has been busy.
Autumn looks like it might be busier.

We'll keep learning. We'll keep adapting. And we'll keep showing up.

Because behind every number is a person.

And behind every is a whole and helping to make sure no one faces crisis alone.

Have a lovely weekend๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’š

Together is, and always will be, our favourite place to be.

๐ŸŒพ Insight & Learning | What are we really trying to harvest?

Yesterday we launched our 2026 โ€“ .

And today, for Insight & Learning Wednesday, we wanted to explain a little more about why we've chosen that theme.

has always been an incredibly important time for foodbanks - schools, churches, businesses, community groups and individuals collect food. Our warehouse shelves begin to fill. And those help sustain us through some of our busiest months of the year.

We need that food. There is no getting away from that.

But the longer we do this work, the more we learn that filling our warehouse cannot be the extent of our . . . because behind every is a household experiencing a moment when there simply isn't enough. And, our ultimate measure of success shouldn't be how many parcels we can distribute, it should be how many people don't need one in the first place.

So this , we're thinking about what else we can grow.

๐ŸŒฑ Hope โ€“ that difficult circumstances can change.

๐Ÿ’š Heart โ€“ a willing to notice when others are struggling.

๐Ÿค โ€“ people, organisations and services working together so nobody has to navigate alone.

Food will absolutely be part of our Harvest.
But we're also inviting Perth and Kinross to help us grow something bigger.

A that listens.

A that understands.

A that responds.

And ultimately, a where .

Perhaps that's what Harvest has always been about.

Not simply what we gather - but what we choose to grow together ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’š

Join us . . .

๐ŸŒฑ THE INVITATION IS OPEN...

This morning we launched , our for 2026.

And now comes the exciting bit.

Seeing what our chooses to grow. ๐Ÿ’š

Over the coming weeks, we'll be inviting schools, churches, , , families and individuals from across Perth & Kinross to get involved.

Some will collect food. ๐ŸŒพ
Some might do a .
Some will give their time.
Some will share skills or resources.
Some will start conversations.
Some will .
And some, we hope, will surprise us with ideas we haven't even thought of yet.

Because this year's Harvest is built around one very simple belief: Everyone has something to contribute.

You don't need a big budget.

You don't need loads of spare time.

And you certainly don't need to have all the answers.

You just need to be willing to plant a wee seed. ๐ŸŒฑ

So here's our invitation:

Think about the you belong to - Your street. Your school. Your workplace. Your church. Your football club. Your friendship group. Your wee corner of Perth & Kinross.

What would you like to see grow there?
More ?
More ?
More ?
More ?
More people looking out for another?

And perhaps most importantly...

What could you contribute to help it grow?

That's what is going to explore this autumn.

And we'd absolutely love you to be part of it.

๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’œ Tuesday | People & Practice

Sometimes looks like a crate of apples. ๐ŸŽ

Before the doors opened for our first session of the week this morning, we had a lovely delivery from our friends at Tesco Edinburgh Road.

Their , Jane, arrived with a crate full of fresh apples for us - very gladly received by Moira and ready to offer as a healthy little sweet treat to clients visiting Perth & Kinross Foodbank HQ today. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ

Of course, Jane has a bit of a foot in both camps...

As well as being Tesco Edinburgh Road's , she also happens to be one of our fabulous Wednesday . ๐Ÿ’œ

It's like this that make such a difference to our work.

When and their people really get to know Perth & Kinross Foodbank, they understand what we do, what our clients might appreciate and where an opportunity exists to help.

Sometimes that's a large or .

And sometimes it's simply:

"We've got some apples - could you use them?"

The answer today was a very definite YES PLEASE! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ™Œ

A big to Tesco Edinburgh Road for continuing to support us, and to Jane for being such a wonderful bridge between our two organisations.

The apples are already heading home with clients today.

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ HE DID IT! A huge well done to our , Phil!

This weekend, our brilliant Treasurer Phil swapped for and took to the start line to raise funds for Perth & Kinross Foodbank

And he crossed the finish line in a fantastic...

โฑ๏ธ 53 minutes and 4 seconds! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

Phil gives an enormous amount to Perth & Kinross Foodbank behind the scenes as our Treasurer, helping keep us on the straight and narrow and ensuring we can continue doing what we do.

So the fact that he's also been willing to put in the training, pull on his trainers and quite literally go the extra mile for the Foodbank means a great deal to all of us. ๐Ÿ’œ

Phil, we are incredibly grateful - and very !

And ... this is where you come in. ๐Ÿ‘€

The run might be finished, but the doesn't have to be!

If you've been meaning to Phil but haven't quite got round to it yet, there's still time. Whether it's ยฃ2, ยฃ5, ยฃ10 or whatever you can comfortably spare, all helps us continue supporting people across Perth & Kinross experiencing .

๐Ÿ’ท Fancy giving Phil one final boost?

You can donate to his JustGiving page here:https://www.justgiving.com/page/pkfoodbank?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=chatgpt.com

And if donating isn't possible, a like, comment or share to help us get Phil's in front of a few more people would be very much appreciated too. ๐Ÿ™

๐ŸŒพ HARVESTING WHAT MATTERS MOST | ๐ŸŒพ

September has arrived, and with it comes one of our favourite times of the Foodbank year - .

Across Perth & Kinross, Harvest has long been a time for to come together. To what has grown. To . And to with others.

This year, we're doing things a little differently.

Of course, we'll still be collecting food. Our shelves need the support of our , and over the coming weeks we'll be sharing plenty about what we need and how schools, churches, businesses, groups and individuals can get involved.

But for , we want to think a little bigger. . . . .

Because there are lots of things worth growing.

.
.
.
.
.

At a time when the world can feel noisy, divided and sometimes pretty overwhelming, it can be easy to wonder what difference any one of us can really make.

We think the answer is: more than we realise.

Not everyone can .
Not everyone can give money.
Not everyone has lots of .

But everyone has something to contribute.
A skill. An idea. An hour. A conversation. A welcome. A donation. A connection. A small .

And when we choose to invest those things in the places and people around us, something begins to grow.

A . ๐Ÿ’š

So throughout September, we'll be celebrating the people, organisations and everyday acts that help make Perth & Kinross a place where people can belong, contribute and look out for one another.

We'll share ways to get involved, things to think about and, yes, plenty of opportunities to help us fill our shelves too!

But today, on the first day of our , we're starting with one simple question:

What would you like to grow in your ? ๐ŸŒฑ

Welcome to 2026.

Together, we're growing .

Keep your eyes peeled for further updates

๐Ÿ’š | What might someone struggling need to hear this week?

Tomorrow is the first day of September. ๐Ÿ‚

A new month.
A new season beginning.
Back to routines.
Back to school.
Back to normal... whatever normal is supposed to look like.

And sometimes a new month can bring with it an odd little pressure to get everything sorted.

So, if you need to hear this tonight:

๐Ÿ’š You don't have to have it all sorted by September.

If there are you're worried about, you are not expected to magically solve them overnight.

If the have left the looking decidedly unhappy, you won't be the only one. ๐Ÿ’ท

If you're looking at the colder months ahead and wondering how on earth you're going to manage, you don't have to work out the whole winter tonight.

And if life simply feels a bit much at the moment, you don't have to pretend otherwise.

Sometimes the next step is enough.

Make the phone call. ๐Ÿ“ž
Ask the question.
Tell someone you're struggling. ๐Ÿ’ฌ
Accept the offer of help.
Come through our door. ๐Ÿ’š

You don't need to know exactly what support you need before you ask for it.

And you certainly don't need to wait until things get worse.

At Perth & Kinross Foodbank, food might be part of what we can offer.

But so is a .
A .
.
.
Connections and to people who may be able to help.

And absolutely no judgement about how you got here.

So as September arrives tomorrow, forget about having everything figured out.

Just take the next step.

And if that next step brings you to our door, we'll be here. Parcel distribution opens tomorrow 12:00-16:00. We look forward to seeing you there. ๐Ÿ’š
