The Yellow-legged hornet contingency response

Between 2016 and 2022, twenty-three confirmed Yellow-legged hornet sightings have been confirmed in the UK. No confirmed sighting has been made in Scotland to date and the Scottish Government has already developed a Contingency Plan.

The yellow-legged hornet, Vespa velutina, is however a predator of native insects and poses a significant threat to honey bees and other pollinators. This webinar will show how the National Bee Unit is responding to yellow-legged hornet sightings. Click on the link to book a place at the webinar to find out more.

Celebrating today's World Otter Day, we can ask - is eDNA the best technology to survey otters and other elusive animals?

A new study has found there is a way for non-invasive methods to monitor species such as otter using their spraint. This could well be the future to monitor and survey otters, as well as other wildlife. Find out more by clicking the link.

Over 200 species of flora and fauna go extinct daily. Some of these species go extinct before they are discovered. Others disappear because they are too elusive, leaving researchers at a loss for the best practices to study them. This may all be about to change. A new blueprint for studying endanger...
