d to chat to you. Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. Lodge Scoon and Perth is one of the oldest lodges in Scotland and one of the oldest in the world. Freemasons come from all walks of life and meet as equals whatever their race, religion or socio-economic position in society. Its values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Freemasonry provides a unique environment for people from all backgrounds to learn skills, make lasting friendships, achieve their potential and, above all, have fun. Freemasonry is more relevant and important to society today than ever, as it encompasses and embraces all the fundamental principles of good citizenship. Many of these are learnt through traditional rituals that take the form of one-act plays, that remain substantially the same form as used by our original stonemason’s lodge, which leads to increased self-esteem and confidence in lodge members. Freemasonry prides itself on its transparency. Not only are Freemasons completely free to acknowledge their membership, they are encouraged to do so. There are no closed doors in Freemasonry and Lodges throughout Scotland regularly open their doors to visitors. For everyone, Lodges offer a place of harmony and tranquility. Freemasons make a major contribution to society through their own charities, as well as through donations to UK charities and worldwide disaster relief funds, with members playing an active role in their communities. Every Freemason embarks on his own journey of self-discovery when he enters the organisation. With three levels of Freemasonry, the progression through to senior roles within a Lodge can be seen in much the same way as a person progressing in his career – each promotion bringing greater understanding and responsibility. There are many reasons for joining the Freemasons. For general information about freemasonry a good starting point is on the Grand Lodge of Scotland's website www.grandlodgescotland.com

🍽️ Summer Meeting & Harmony Dinner

Lodge Scoon & Perth No. 3

Bro. E.W. Reid, Master of Lodge Scoon & Perth No. 3, extends a cordial invitation to all qualified Brethren to attend the Summer Meeting and Harmony Dinner on Saturday 27th June 2026.

The Lodge will open at 2:00 pm (Tyle), with the meeting expected to conclude at approximately 4:30 pm. This will allow time for Brethren to relax, refresh, and proceed to the Harmony venue without haste.

On this occasion, the Lodge will host a dramatised Entered Apprentice Degree set within the historical context of a Second World War Prisoner of War camp, worked by a visiting team from Lodge Union & Crown No. 307.

This presentation reflects the importance of structure, ritual, and fellowship in maintaining morale, identity, and resilience in extreme circumstances. Even in captivity, shared traditions provided continuity and a sense of normality in otherwise disrupted conditions.

The degree promises to offer a thoughtful and engaging interpretation of the Craft in this unique historical setting.

Following the meeting, Brethren will proceed to the St Johnstone FC Supporters’ Club, Barossa Street, Perth, where the Harmony Dinner will be served at approximately 5:30 pm.

On Saturday 9th May 2026, three Past Masters and one Master Mason of Lodge Scoon & Perth No. 3 were pleased to attend the Centenary Celebration of Lodge Moncrieffe No. 1332 held at King Street, Perth.
The highlight of the afternoon was the formal Ceremony of Rededication, conducted by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire East, led by the Provincial Grand Master, Bro. I.H. Cameron. The ceremony was delivered with great dignity and was a fitting tribute to a Lodge celebrating 100 years of history and service.
An engaging historical address from the Lodge Secretary provided a fascinating insight into the heritage and development of Lodge Moncrieffe across the past century. He also explained the symbolism of the Lodge logo, clarifying that it depicts the old Bridge of Earn — the historic bridge in the village where the Lodge was founded and where it held its meetings for its first one hundred years — shown as an arch spanning flowing water with the keystone at its centre, rather than a bell or a beehive as is sometimes mistakenly believed.
The presence of visiting Brethren further enriched the celebration, including a Brother from Lodge Ratanakosin No. 1833, Thailand. A photograph captured the Master of Lodge Moncrieffe alongside the visiting Brother, marking a memorable international moment of friendship and fraternity.
The occasion provided a truly memorable afternoon of reflection, friendship, and Masonic continuity, honouring both the proud history of the Lodge and its continued place within the wider fraternity.

On Friday 8th May, our Junior Warden, Bro. Richard Stibbles, enjoyed a fantastic visit to Lodge Inveraray St John No. 50 where Lodge Saint Conval Giffnock No. 1359 conferred an excellent exemplification of the Master Mason Degree.

Before the meeting, Brethren spent the afternoon exploring the beautiful and historic town of Inveraray, with Bro. Richard capturing some stunning photographs of the area, highlighting the charm and character of this picturesque Highland town.

The Brethren later gathered for dinner at The George Hotel before attending the meeting at Church Hall, Church Square — a distinctive and historic setting in the heart of Inveraray.

Bro. Richard spoke highly of the excellent degree work carried out by the Degree Team and was honoured to join the deputation of Lodge Saint Conval Giffnock No. 1359 being piped into and out of the Lodge at the invitation of the Conferring Master.

The evening continued in true fraternal spirit with generous hospitality, warm fellowship, and the opportunity to strengthen existing friendships while making many new ones with Brethren from across Scotland and beyond, including visitors from England, Wales, and Greece.

The photographs from the visit perfectly capture both the beauty of Inveraray and the friendship and camaraderie shared throughout the evening.

Visits such as these continue to reflect the outward-looking and welcoming spirit of Lodge Scoon & Perth No. 3, with Bro. Richard serving as a fine ambassador for the Lodge wherever he travels.

On Friday 8th May 2026, a Past Master of Lodge Scoon & Perth, No. 3, accompanied by a Master Mason and an Entered Apprentice of the Lodge, paid a fraternal visit to Lodge St John Operative, No. 105 in Coupar Angus.

They were also joined by a visiting Brother from Lodge Ratanakosin No. 1833 (Bangkok, Thailand), adding a welcome international dimension to an already enjoyable evening of Masonic fellowship.

The Brethren had the pleasure of witnessing an Entered Apprentice Degree, as Lodge No. 105 initiated its newest member into the Craft. Of particular note, this was the first degree ceremony the Entered Apprentice from Lodge No. 3 had attended since his own Initiation, making the occasion especially meaningful.

Following the meeting, Brethren enjoyed a most convivial harmony buffet supper. The evening continued in the true spirit of Freemasonry — strengthening bonds of friendship, extending hospitality, and sharing good company across Lodges and borders alike.

Bro Ewan Reid, Master of Lodge Scoon & Perth, No. 3, was delighted to be accompanied by four members of the Lodge on Wednesday 6th May 2025 when they visited The Carse of Gowrie Lodge, No. 871 in Errol.

The Brethren had the pleasure of witnessing an Entered Apprentice of Lodge No. 871 being Passed to the Fellow of Craft Degree, an important and meaningful step in his Masonic journey, carried out with dignity and in the best traditions of the Craft.

Pictured left to right: Bro Richard Stibbles, Junior Warden, Lodge No. 3; Bro Ewan Reid, Master, Lodge No. 3; the newly Passed Fellow Craft; and the Master of Lodge No. 871.

Following the meeting, Brethren enjoyed a most convivial harmony meal of soup, sandwiches, and cakes. The warm welcome and genuine hospitality extended by our friends at Carse of Gowrie Lodge were greatly appreciated, rounding off an excellent evening of friendship, fellowship, and Masonic tradition.
