Happy World Theatre Today!



It’s been another busy year for Learning and Engagement, full of exceptionally talented people of all creative interests, ages and backgrounds! While we’re busy with this year’s exciting projects, check out some of our highlights over the past year!

We marked 125 years of entertainment in Perth last year with a celebration for everyone! Our Cardboard Perth exhibit at our 125 Live! anniversary street party was delightful, featuring model boxes of primary students’ favourite places around Perth, and Neon8’s VR film featuring our Youth Ambassadors was a hit!

Our schools panto design competition boasted hundreds of entries again this year! Our winner designed a beautiful flower to feature on Flora’s dress in The Snow Queen, and many of the other entries and runners up adorned the wall in Perth Theatre.

PYT Mainstage brought us another excellent musical, The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy! With new and returning cast members and a band made up of musicians from the local community, the wacky family took to the stage and entertained audiences for a 5-show run! Our other youth workshops have been working hard, putting on last year’s PYT Festival in June 2025 and now working towards their next showcase in June 2026! We’re now in a very exciting year, Perth Youth Theatre’s 60th anniversary! Stay tuned on our social media pages to see all of the exciting things happening surrounding our birthday. Our health and wellbeing workshops have been thriving, with new beautiful pictures of our Dance for Parkinson’s and Let’s Dance classes taken last year! Both groups are completely free to join, send us a message or email to find out how to join in.

It’s the World Day of Theatre and Performance for Children and Young People!



This year marks 60 years of Perth Youth Theatre, Scotland’s oldest youth theatre group, and we are so proud of each and every one of our participants, past and present. Today we are sharing pictures of a handful of our long-standing PYT members! (Scroll to the end for a bonus: a previous PYT member who now teaches PYT!)

🎉 We’re Celebrating 60 Years of Perth Youth Theatre! 🎉

To mark this amazing milestone, we’re aiming to raise £2000 to buy new filming equipment for our young people. It will enable them to develop brand new digital skills during their weekly sessions, which will stay with them long after their time at PYT.

We’re also working towards creating a short film to celebrate our incredible young people and leave a lasting legacy of them and their work. Who knows… we might even be nurturing the next Steven Spielberg! 🦖🎬

Our Legacy Film Crowdfunder is live!



We are making a Legacy Film to celebrate Perth Youth Theatre’s 60th Anniversary showcasing the talents of our young people in different departments of the Theatre and Concert Hall. The money raised from our Crowdfunder will go towards film making equipment, and giving the next generation of actors, creatives and theatre technicians valuable experience behind the scenes as well as on stage.

That’s a wrap!



PYT Mainstage’s The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy has officially come to a close. From everyone in Learning and Engagement thank you to our great audience for coming along to see the show and supporting the young people and the work we do.



To the cast, we are so grateful to have worked with such wonderful, talented, committed young people. You were all incredible and should be so proud of yourselves. We hope to see you all for PYT Mainstage 2026/27!



To the creative and technical team, thank you for supporting the young people and for working tirelessly to give them an amazing experience, - we couldn’t be more fortunate to work with such amazing individuals and teams.
