We had a brilliant time going under the sea last weekend, as we explored Scotland's marine wildlife! 🐬🦀🐌🐋

We began by making our own marine creature masks, and then found out all about how animals cope with salty sea water through our own experiment! After that, we headed outside to play the Limpet Game, which taught us all about how Limpets live and move.

After our customary break, it was time to find out about Scotland's whales, dolphins and porpoises. We measured out the lengths of different animals and lined ourselves up along the distance - the Humpback whale was huge!

Finally, we just about had time to learn about Leatherback turtles and make our own craft turtles to take home. Phew, what a lot of fun! 🐢🐋

As September approaches it's fun to look back on our summer trip! What a fun day we had in Edinburgh, especially learning about Scotland's wildlife at the National Museum of Scotland.

📣Calling all 11-18 year olds (or parents/guardians of!)📣 PKCT's Youth Council invites you to the Youth Nature Day 2026! 🥳

Taking place on the 05 August at Kinnoull Hill, this day is planned and led by our Youth Council, with support from our Staff team and a special conservation task from the PKC Greenspace Rangers.

Come along for a day where you can connect with nature, learn about nature, and help nature directly! You will also get to meet our Youth Council, and other like minded young people.

Spaces are FREE but booking is essential, as we will need to get consent forms completed. Please contact (or ask your parent/guardian to contact) Catherine to find out more - [email protected]. 😊

Looking for something fun, for your 8-12 year old this weekend? Take them along to Wild Moments at South Inch on Sunday!

Wild Moments events are well-being photography walks, that help everyone to connect with nature and pick up some tips as they go. This Sunday's event is for age 8-12, but we have sessions for other age groups throughout the year too.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone who is booked in to tomorrow's foraging session! To get you in the Wildlife Watch zone, here is a post from Leader Claire, about last month's fab session!:

"Perth Wildlife Watch had so much “fawn” on Saturday at our Deer-Oh-Deer session on Kinnoull Hill! 🦌

First, we coloured in some pictures of the six species of deer found in the UK (only two are native!), but with a twist! Instead of pens and pencils, we used soil as our paint 🎨

After washing our hands, leader Jess challenged everyone to a treasure hunt! Like a modern-day Mystery Inc. we split up and looked for clues, which were all hidden around the forest. Once everyone found all 6 of their clues, we regrouped and tried to solve which species of deer our clues were about 🔍. We had pictures of the different deer species to help us, and even some real roe, red and fallow deer antlers. Of course, both groups guessed correctly - what a bunch of antler-llectuals!

After a quick break to enjoy some chocolate eggs, it was time for a game of Stag & Doe to learn about the importance of apex predators 🐺🐻

Finally, we headed back outside to collect more materials for our deer pictures. This time it was grass, lichen and catkins to make greens and yellows 🌾”
