We led a Glow Ride around Oxford to higlight the importance of safety on the roads for people cycling. Increase that and more women will feel more confident to cycle (and other adults and children too) Join us to campaign for lower speed limits, better cycle lanes, more high quality cycle parking and let's make Oxford live up to its name of Cycling City.

Around 2000 new students visited the travel stand we held with Broken Spoke Bike Coop and the University sustainable travel team. We offered free student membership and lots of advice on cycling in Oxford

Cllr Gareth Epps speaks up for children in response to city leader Susan Brown's Friday statement calling for a "review" of transport policies.
Ms Brown questioned whether the council could "at least consider temporarily suspending relevant restrictions", while road repairs are ongoing.
Mr Epps responded: "‘Susan Brown appears not to care about the safety of small children who have learned to walk and cycle through filtered roads.
"Is she prepared for a child to be killed or injured so that Oxford residents can get around road works?
“You can’t run a road network as if you’re a weathervane.”
Cyclox Chair, Ian Loader said
"Cyclox is surprised and extremely disappointed by the Oxford City Council statement. We should never be opening LTNs to 'relieve' congested roads.
"The city council statement concedes that ‘there are downsides for cyclists’ from doing so.
"But it says nothing about the danger it would create for children and pedestrians.
"Opening the LTNs also sends the message that residents have been lent their streets and they can be reclaimed by their (car) owners whenever they need them."
He added that "congested roads in Oxford didn't start last week" but has been ongoing for "decades".
"With all the housing being built in and around the city in the coming years, it will get worse, unless steps are taken to manage traffic levels."
On traffic filters Ian said,
"We are two weeks into an experiment. It takes time for people to adjust their travel behaviour.
"So we need to wait and watch and if necessary tweak the scheme."

We had a great time at Kidical Mass Oxford - 180 people of all ages and abilities cycling around the city together.

It's a fun and joyous celebration of cycling and a reminder that the streets are for everyone.

Great to see so many children and families cycling together with such confidence.

Many thanks to everyone who volunteered to make this a fantastic day out!!

🚲 Join Cyclox for a Kidical Mass cycle ride - Sunday 27 September - 2.00 pm

Cyclox is organising a fun, family-friendly Kidical Mass cycle ride around Oxford — and everyone is welcome!

We’ll set off at 2.00 pm from five different locations across the city, cycling at a relaxed pace to Gloucester Green, where we all meet up. From there, we’ll cycle around Oxford together before heading home around 3.15 pm.

Cutteslowe School — Sunnymead, OX2 7SX
Makespace — Aristotle Lane, Jericho, OX2 6TP
Headington — Manor Surgery, OX3 9BP
West Oxford — Oatlands Road Recreation Ground, OX2 0HS

Children must be accompanied by an adult, but adults are very welcome to join even if they don’t have children with them.

It’s a free, fun day out for everyone - come along to cycle together, make some noise, ring your bells and enjoy riding safely around Oxford as a group. No special cycling skills are needed - just your enthusiasm!

We support people in Oxford to cycle, sharing information, fixing bikes, talking to local politicians and getting families cycling. This was us at Leys festival on Sunday.
