Okehampton and District Community Transport Group

Okehampton and District Community Transport Group We provide specialist community transport when private and normal public transport is not viable.

We're a local community transport charity helping people in and around Okehampton get where they need to go. From shopping trips and appointments to social groups and days out, our friendly volunteer drivers help people stay independent, connected and involved in their community. We are not affiliated with the NHS and operate as an independent local charity. Our office and phone lines are open 8:3

0am - 4pm week days (closed weekends). We are a small team so it is advisable to call us before coming to the office to ensure someone is there. 01837 55 000

'I have been given the all clear to drive again following my recovery. ODCTG has been magnificent these past 5 weeks, getting me to my medical appointments. The drivers have been kind and very informative about the local area and the services available. ODCTG has been a lifeline and given me practical support when I have needed it, I cannot thank you enough.' - Jane, Petrockstowe

We welcome all feedback. Please give us a call or send us an email and let us know your thoughts on our services.

Would you like to support our charity but are unsure how? It is not just volunteer drivers that we need in order to provide our services. Here are some other ways you can help:
β˜• Fundraising
If your local town or village is holding a fete/fair plant sale or similar event, please put us forward as a beneficiary, this is a great way for us to receive a contribution and we can help publicise the event.
πŸ’Ό Sponsorship
Are you a local business looking to support your community? We are always interested in hearing from businesses who may be able to sponsor a trip, event, activity, or journeys to medical appointments etc. Sponsorship helps us continue supporting local people to stay connected, independent and active, while also giving businesses the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to the community.
🚌 Bus Buddy
For some people, joining a trip or travelling somewhere unfamiliar can feel daunting. We are looking for companions to offer a friendly face, a bit of reassurance, and a helping hand, on our day trips.
🎁 Donations
Whether it's a one-off donation or a regular gift, every contribution helps us support people who would otherwise struggle to access transport. Contributions can be made through our Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/charity/odctg or please contact us for other payment methods.
πŸ“£ Spread the Word
Like, share and comment on our social media posts, recommend our services to friends and family, or display one of our posters in your workplace or community venue.
πŸ’š Leave a Lasting Legacy
By remembering ODCTG in your will, you could help ensure local people continue to have access to vital community transport for years to come. A gift of any size can make a lasting difference to the people we support.

If you are interested in helping and would like to speak to us, please send an email to [email protected] or give us a call on 01837 55000.

Thank you!

In order to maintain the sustainability of our service we need to make a small adjustment to our Community Car Scheme mileage rate. From 1st July, our rate will increase from 55p to 60p per mile, in line with the HMRC rate. The booking fee will stay the same at Β£3.

We understand that any increase in cost can be difficult, and we want to assure you that this decision has not been taken lightly. It reflects the rising operational costs we are facing and allows us to continue providing a reliable and high-quality service to those who depend on us.

Local journeys, of less than 7 miles, will remain at Β£6.00.

Thank you for your continued support!

Do you have some free time? Have you considered volunteering? Debbie, one of our Community Car Scheme drivers, says, 'It’s such a sociable role. People are interesting, and you get to know them. Some days I wait in the car, other times I nip to the library or do my shopping. It fits around my life.'

Our volunteer drivers take local residents to their hospital and medical appointments, to social groups and to visit family in care homes. They use their own vehicles and are paid for their mileage. Our volunteers kindly donate their time, and can choose which journeys to accept, to fit around their own schedule.

We welcome volunteers who would like to make a real difference in their local community by helping people access healthcare, services and social opportunities.

If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to hear from you! For further information on our volunteering opportunities please head over to our website www.odctg.co.uk/volunteer or give us a call on 01837 55000. We don't just need drivers, we also need Bus Buddies (companions on day trips) and people to help with events.

Please share our post so we can reach more people! Thank you.
