Oke PADs

Okehampton Public Access Defibrillators raises funds to install AEDs & provide essential training free of charge to the community.

Currently there is no coordinated scheme to ensure that the population of Okehampton has access to public access defibrillators (PADs). We propose the formulation of a charity organisation to support the funding and placement of defibrillators and free training for all. Okehampton has an estimated population more than 6,000 and continues to expend. Each year there are up to 16 cases of sudden card

iac arrest in Okehampton (Source Southwestern Ambulance Service Foundation Trust March 2016 – 2017). Oke PADs is fundraising to install 5 defibrillators at strategic locations around the town and to provide monthly free training sessions in CPR and use of defibrillators.

Bystanders in Britain often don't help as they may have a fear of getting it wrong or getting sued. Let's try and give some context.

If you don't stop and help in;
France it's up to €100,000 fine/ 7 years in prison.

Germany up to a year in Prison

Portugal & Spain more fines, more prison sentences...

Britain is one of the few European countries where we don't have a legal responsibility to stop and help.
We should be better. ❤️
