Help us continue being there for young people πŸ‘

Every week, children and young people in our community reach out because they are struggling with things that feel too difficult to carry alone.

Anxiety.
Grief.
Loneliness.
Low self-esteem.
Family difficulties.
Worries about the future.

At Tor Support Services, we work to ensure young people have somewhere safe to turn.
🫴 A place to talk.
🫴 A place to feel heard.
🫴 A place to begin healing.

But support services like ours can only continue with the help of our community.

Your donation helps us provide:
🌱 Counselling sessions
🌱 Early intervention and emotional support
🌱 Safe spaces for children and young people
🌱 Guidance and support for families
🌱 Ongoing support for local young people who need it most

If our work matters to you, please consider donating or sharing this post.

Because no young person should have to struggle alone.

✏️ Exam season can bring pressure, anxiety, and stress for many young people.

At Tor Support Services, our counsellors often remind young people:

βœ”οΈ Your worth is not measured by exam results
βœ”οΈ Rest helps memory, focus and concentration
βœ”οΈ Small steps are still progress
βœ”οΈ Comparing yourself to others rarely helps
βœ”οΈ Asking for support is a strength, not a weakness

This exam season, try to focus on effort over perfection.

Some practical coping tips:

πŸ“š Break revision into smaller chunks
πŸ“š Use timers and take regular breaks
πŸ“š Stay hydrated and eat regularly
πŸ“š Get outside for some fresh air and movement
πŸ“š Try to reduce scrolling before bed
πŸ“š Remember that exams are only one part of your story

If exam stress is starting to feel overwhelming, you do not have to manage it alone. We’re here to help support you.

Moving your body is not about punishment.
It is not about changing how you look.
It is about noticing how movement can help you feel.

Even gentle movement can sometimes help to:
- release stress and tension
- support your mood
- improve sleep
- calm busy or anxious thoughts
- help you reconnect with yourself

If you feel able to get outside, you could try:
🌿 A short walk
🌿 Listening to music or a podcast while walking
🌿 Kicking a ball around
🌿 Spending time in the garden
🌿 Walking the dog
🌿 Cycling or scootering

If leaving the house feels too difficult today, that is okay too. You could try:
πŸ›‹οΈ Stretching in bed
πŸ›‹οΈ Dancing to a favourite song
πŸ›‹οΈ Gentle chair yoga or movement
πŸ›‹οΈ Tidying one small space
πŸ›‹οΈ Walking around while on the phone
πŸ›‹οΈ Slow breathing or grounding exercises

Small movement still counts.
Rest is important too.
You do not need intense exercise for movement to support your mental wellbeing.

Be gentle with yourself this week.

πŸ’ Worry is often part of growing

Worries can feel BIG, for children, teenagers, and even young adults. But something important to remember is that many worries are a normal part of development.

As we grow, our brains are constantly learning:
- What feels safe
- What feels uncertain
- What matters to us

Here are some common worries at different ages:

πŸ‘¦ Ages 5 - 7
- Separation from parents
- Monsters or the dark
- Starting school
- Making friends
- Fear of getting things wrong

πŸ§’ Ages 8 - 11
- Friendship problems
- Being left out
- School pressure
- Early body changes
- Comparing themselves to others

πŸ§‘ Ages 12 - 15
- Exams
- Identity
- Appearance
- Social media pressure
- Fitting in
- Anxiety about the future

πŸŽ“ Ages 16 - 18
- Exams and careers
- Relationships
- Independence
- Mental health struggles
- Self-worth
- Pressure to succeed

🌱 Ages 19 - 25
- University or work stress
- Finances
- Loneliness
- Relationships
- Identity and purpose
- Burnout and overwhelm

🧠 One of the most reassuring messages we can share is:
β€œI’m not broken. My brain is learning.”

Normalising worries can help reduce shame and open calmer, more supportive conversations at home, school, and in everyday life.

If worries are beginning to feel overwhelming, please remember, support is always available πŸ‘

Grief in children and young people does not always look the way adults expect it to.

Some may cry openly.
Some may become quiet or withdrawn.
Some may seem completely fine one moment and overwhelmed the next.

There is no 'right' way to grieve.

Gentle support from adults can make a huge difference:
πŸ–€ Use honest, age appropriate language
πŸ–€ Give them space to ask questions
πŸ–€ Keep routines where possible
πŸ–€ Allow all feelings without judgement
πŸ–€ Remember that behaviour can be communication
πŸ–€ Share memories of the person who has died
πŸ–€ Reassure them that they are safe, supported, and loved

Sometimes children and young people need extra support to help them process loss safely and at their own pace.

At Tor Support Services, we offer compassionate support for children and young people experiencing grief and bereavement.

🫴 Please reach out if you feel your child or young person could benefit from support.
