Our mission is to provide funding for essential toys, equipment, and events for the children and families who attend the Hub. We are a group of volunteer parents who have come together to support our local Family Hub Network by raising funds to host events or purchase equipment for the families of Hucknall residents. This Volunteers' Week 2026, we were celebrated by the Hucknall Family Hub Network - Ashfield, and it meant more than we can say.

One of the reasons we do what we do is to support others through our lived experiences. No matter how small, we all have something to give back to the community.

🤩 The absolutely creative lady who can make something out of anything

🤩 The superwoman who helps other parents understand that they are doing great because she's lived their experiences

🤩 The young lady who thought she didn't have anything to offer but is now a volunteer at the Hub AND a local farm

🤩 The father who turned his negative past into a positive future, helping youths and teens learn from his mistakes

These are just some life examples of the volunteers at the Family Hub Network - Ashfield. It was great to be recognised for the work we do and to see its impact.

There's always space for more volunteers. The more we are, the more we can achieve. To join, pop into the Hucknall Family Hub and speak to any lovely member of staff or call 0300 500 8080

P.S: This post was created by a volunteer 😁

Today is set to be the hottest day this month.

Water play is one of the easiest ways to stay cool and have fun at home. This is why water safety is important.

When children are playing with water,
- Supervise at all times
- After use, cover it
- Do not leave unattended
- Empty it, put it away

Water safety begins at home. 🏡💦

We’re proud to support , the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK water safety campaign which raises awareness of simple garden water safety tips to help protect babies and young children from drowning.

Parents/carers, what’s your current parenting “small win”? 😊

Did the baby finally nap?
Did you drink a hot cup of tea before it went cold? 😅
Did your little one learn something new this week?

We've heard about some really lovely wins recently, including a little one learning to wear their shoes and another who painted within the lines of a painting activity 🥳

We’re celebrating all the small wins today, share yours 💚👇

Did you know 🤔:

👉Nearly 20% of children (ages 3-17) struggle with a mental, emotional or behavioural disorder.

👉Suicidal behaviour among high school students increased by more than 40% in the decade before 2019.

👉Up to 80% of children in foster care have significant mental health issues.

👉Mental health-related emergency visits for children increased by up to 30% in recent years, particularly during the pandemic.

This is not a post of doom, but to share how important it is to focus on the mental health of the children in our community.

That's why the Family Hub Network - Ashfield is available for parents, carers, and children seeking advice or just a listening ear. The centre also offers special programs tailored to children's needs. More information can be found on their profile.
