The Evolution of the Poppy - A Century of Remembrance

With Remembrance Day on the horizon, we thought we would take a look back at the remarkable evolution of one of the most recognisable symbols of remembrance, the red poppy.

For over a century, the poppy has been worn with pride, honouring those who have served, sacrificed and given their lives for our country.

From the delicate silk and wire poppies of the 1920s to the designs of the Second World War, the familiar paper poppy and today's fully recyclable, plastic-free version, its appearance has changed considerably over the generations.

But while its appearance has changed, its meaning never has.

The poppy represents generations who have served with courage and distinction. It reminds us of those who returned home, those who never did, and the families who have carried the weight of their sacrifice.

As we approach Remembrance Sunday, we are proud to support The Royal British Legion and its annual Poppy Appeal, which continues to provide vital support to serving personnel, veterans and their families.

We encourage everyone to wear their poppy with pride and, where possible, support this year's appeal.

Different generations. Different poppies. The same promise to remember.

We Will Remember Them.
