Here is a group deserving of our praise. During February, in all weathers, our u3a Litter Pickers collected a total of 26 bags of rubbish throughout our area. What a sad indictment of our society that so much litter is so carelessly strewn about. Litter picking is one of the many activities you could get involved with if you joined the u3a. Visit our website at www.hucknallu3a.org.uk and read all about our other interest groups and activities. If you would like to be a part of our organisation, click on the Membership page and follow the instructions.

Our recent outing with the GOD group (growing old disgracefully - ladies only) was to play a game of croquet. It is a fascinating and skilful game and, as you can see, there are a few of us trying our hand at it, some with more success than others! If you would like to get involved in group activities, then look no further than your local u3a where there is something for everyone. Just check us out on our website www.hucknallu3a.org.uk become a member and come and join us.

A happy group of u3a members enjoying the benefits of chair based exercise which is a low impact way of getting exercise into daily life. The use of scarves as well as hoops and beanbags is a fun way to improve flexibility, strength and coordination as this group shows.

Our group is open to all members, men and women, and meets once a month though many continue to practise at home. It incorporates fall prevention exercises, the use of resistance bands for improving muscle strength and a series of movement to music routines while seated. We use a variety of music genre for inspiration and singing along while working out is not uncommon!

If you would like to join us, check out our website at www.hucknallu3a.org.uk and follow the instructions on the Membership page - we can't 'stop the clock ' but we can sure slow it down.

One of our new groups, Vegetarian Cookery, has got off to a very tasty start. Amongst other things, Anne has demonstrated rice and vegetable pie and brie and cranberry parcels. This month, we were treated to a demonstration of mushroom and vegetable roulade and while it was cooking we had cups of coffee and home-made ginger cookies. Once the roulade was out of the oven we had a most delicious tasting session. If this has whet your appetite and you would like to join our very friendly group, go to the u3a website at hucknallu3a.org.uk and click on the membership page.

A smaller group than usual (due to our meeting clashing with other groups' activities) enjoyed an early Coronation celebration Singalong, a quiz on Charles’s life and celebration cake at St. Peters & St Paul’s Church Hall.

The group meets regularly here once a month for a fun singalong. As you can see the words are up on screen, coffee and biscuits are provided - all contributing to an all-round feel good factor! If you would like to join us, please visit our website www.hucknallu3a.org.uk and click on 'Membership'. You could be singing along with us next month too.

On the picture below, our 'Fun with Languages' group were practising their Italian whilst enjoying their Christmas meal at Moda.
They plan to continue this year with sessions in Spanish and French with a variety of learning methods and role play. It is not a high powered language course, the emphasis is on fun and 'getting by on holiday' in any country you may visit. They meet once a month and new members are always welcome. For details of how to join this group, or any other u3a group, just go to our website www.hucknallu3a.org.uk and click on Membership.
