Age UK North Tyneside is a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. We were established in 1972 and have grown to become one of the largest local voluntary organisations in the borough. We have over 350 staff and over 20 volunteers providing a wide range of services for older people in North Tyneside. Our services include:

- Fitness classes and social groups

- Support for veterans

Harry supports his wife, Geraldine, who has Dementia.

He is a carer.

Through Age UK North Tyneside, Harry receives support from Dementia Connections, who help provide practical support with Admiral Nurses and facilitate Dementia Activities for Geraldine to enjoy.

Fixed term, 2-3 days per week
Focus on delivering audits across key risk areas, providing assurance and identifying improvements, before supporting the development of a sustainable Quality Assurance and Internal Audit Framework.

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the incredible people who support loved ones every day. 💙

Caring can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging at times. That's why it's important that carers have support too.

We're delighted to be launching Carer Connection, a new monthly support group for anyone caring for a family member or friend affected by dementia, whether they have a diagnosis, are awaiting diagnosis, or dementia is suspected.

Join us at our launch event, Thursday 18th June!

Monthly sessions begin on Thursday, 2nd July and will take place on the first Thursday of every month from 1pm–3pm.

Celebrating our wonderful volunteers!

This we want to shine a light on the amazing work of all of our volunteers who help us each day to support older people. We couldn’t do it without you!

We’d love to give a special shout-out to Jean, our wonderful volunteer who supports our HR, Training, and Finance team. Our HR Manager, Peter, shared some words about Jean’s dedication.

"Jean has volunteered at Age UK North Tyneside for over 8 Years, giving up one of her weekdays almost every week supporting the HR, Training and Finance Teams. I see it that she chooses to volunteer but, in my eyes, when she turns up every week it's to work and work, she does. I could make a long list of all the jobs she does when she comes in but every week she makes a difference.

I would like to say a big thank to Jean for her years of volunteering at Age UK North Tyneside.”

Our Dementia Connections team in Newcastle is launching something new, just in time for Carer's week!

The launch event kicks off on the 18th, with monthly meetings after this.

The Carer Connection Support Group is specifically for unpaid carers, caring for a person living with dementia. The group's purpose is to provide connection and reduce the feeling of loneliness that often comes when caring for someone with dementia.

We're looking for volunteers to join us in an Age Without Limits event! This project aims to teach children all the wonderful things you can learn and do as we get older.

This can include learning a new skill, starting a hobby, volunteering, getting fit, using digital technology, or anything else inspiring.
