A few weeks ago, Blyth Beach Huts and the Dave Stephenson Centre ran a raffle to support local charities, with one of the prizes being a beach hut experience during the Blyth Live Event… a belta festival held right on Blyth beach every year.

We’re proud to share that The Empowerment Dojo was one of the chosen charities involved.

For anyone new here, The Empowerment Dojo exists to provide free martial arts classes for children with additional needs. It’s a space designed to help them feel safe, included, build confidence, make friends, and develop real life skills through movement and structure at the Tempest Martial Arts academies.

Thanks to the incredible support of everyone who got involved, shared, and purchased tickets, we’re thrilled to announce a total of £265 raised for the cause 🙌

That money goes straight back into helping us create more opportunities for local children who need it most.

A massive thank you to Blyth Beach Huts and the Dave Stephenson Centre for choosing to support us through this initiative, and for backing community projects that genuinely make a difference.

Our Empowerment Dojo is built specifically for children with SEN: helping them grow in confidence, make friendships, feel included and achieve things they never thought possible 💙

💙 Empowerment Dojo SEN Classes are back on Wednesday 27th May at both Tempest Martial Arts Blyth & North Shields 🥋

These sessions are FREE!
And designed specifically for children with SEN, giving them a safe, supportive and inclusive space to build confidence, develop social skills, stay active and most importantly... have fun while feeling part of a team.

Ages 5-9 years: 12PM
Ages 10-15 years: 1PM

Our classes are beginner friendly, adaptive to individual needs and focused on helping every child feel welcomed, encouraged and empowered from day one.

⚠️ Spaces are limited and booking is essential.

Empowerment Dojo does it again 🌪️

A huge thank you to Charles Parsons School in Walker for having us in this morning.
We had an incredible time working with the children through our SEND charity, delivering free martial arts sessions designed to build confidence, focus, discipline, resilience and self-belief.

This is why Empowerment Dojo exists.
To remind young people that they are capable.
Strong.
Seen.
Valuable.

Martial arts is so much more than kicks and punches. For many children, it becomes the first place they truly believe in themselves.

If you’re a SEND school or organisation in the local area and would like us to come in and work with your children, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re passionate about creating positive experiences that genuinely change lives through movement, encouragement and connection.

We also have our FREE half-term classes coming up very soon at both Blyth and North Shields.

FREE Martial Arts Classes For SEND Children This Easter Half-Term 🐣

The Empowerment Dojo is back this Easter with FREE martial arts classes for SEND children in our community at Tempest Blyth & Tempest North Shields.

These sessions are designed for children who may find it difficult to join a regular class… giving them a space to move, build confidence, and feel part of something.

Dates: 8th April & 15th April
Both locations, same times

• Ages 5–9: 12pm
• Ages 10–15: 1pm

Every session focuses on confidence and self-belief… taught through martial arts in a supportive environment.

And yes… it’s completely FREE!

People often ask how we manage that.

We don’t take government handouts.
We don’t rely on local authority grants.

This is powered by our community for our community ❤️

Tempest Martial Arts provides the backbone of Empowerment Dojo, alongside fundraising and workshops we run throughout the year.

This Wednesday Coach Ricky is excited to be delivering a corporate self-protection workshop at One Strawberry Lane in the centre of Newcastle, and in return they will be making a generous donation to help us keep these sessions free for families 🙏

That’s how this works…

Last week was special.

Massive well done to every single boy and girl who stepped onto the mats at Empowerment Dojo.
You all absolutely smashed it.
The focus.
The effort.
The confidence growing round by round… that’s what it’s about.

It’s been building momentum in North Shields for a while now, but last week was our very first one in Blyth… and the response has been unreal.
The energy in the room said it all.

This is bigger than just a class.
It’s about helping young people find their voice, build belief and stand taller when they walk out than when they walked in.

We can’t wait to welcome even more of the Tempest family into Empowerment Dojo, powered by Tempest, very soon.
