This year, we’re hosting our first Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at YMCA Cafe! 🎄

We’re teaming up with the wonderfully talented Naomi the Flower Girl, who will be on hand with step-by-step tuition to help you create your own stunning wreath ✨

Because we want to keep things cosy, we’re limiting each session to just 15 people. Tickets are £50 per person, which covers absolutely everything: your wreath, all the gorgeous foliage and festive accessories. You'll also get a complimentary drink and a sweet mince pie, a 10% cafe discount voucher to use over the next month, plus a special little gift from us just to say a massive thank you for supporting the YMCA 🧡

Shona and Naomi are so looking forward to welcoming you all! We have two sessions available:

At our recent staff conference, we took time to reflect on the impact we have on our communities by sharing what makes us proud to work at YMCA. Our team wrote down their proudest moments and the stories they love to share.

Reading through the post-its, we were reminded exactly why we do what we do here. Here are a few that stick out:

💛 Combating Isolation: "Supported at Community Meal, befriended a lonely person and shared an evening with them - Combatting loneliness".
💛 Going Above and Beyond: "Learned multiple different languages to help children who had little to no English".
💛 Being a Pillar of Support: "Supporting so many people young and old through some of the hardest times they will experience".

As one post-it perfectly summarised: "The amount of lives we change across all functions is beyond amazing. We should be so proud". We are incredibly proud to be part of an organisation where our team leaves work every day feeling like they can actually make a difference 💛

Today, our Chaplain, Nathan, hosted a brilliant "Small Talks Bake Off" ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10th October! 🧁☕

Our team brought in some amazing home-baked goods, giving us the perfect excuse to step away from our desks, share a cuppa, and just chat.

It was a great reminder that small talks can make a BIG difference 💚 Take the time to reach out and check in with someone today...a simple conversation or a quick coffee can mean the world to someone who needs it.

Last Friday, we brought together over 140 team members from across the country for our All Staff Conference! 🌟

While it was a fantastic opportunity to align on our strategy and share key updates, the real focus of the day was celebrating our people. Taking the time to recognise our recent achievements and reflect on the impact our team has on the communities we support was incredibly inspiring.

We are so lucky to have such a brilliant team, and it is an absolute privilege to work alongside them every day. Thank you to everyone who brought such great energy and made it a day to remember! 💚

And a massive thank you to The Salt Market Social for hosting us in your fantastic venue, and to Scranners Arms for keeping everyone fuelled with some insanely good grub! 🙌

Are you a unique local maker, boutique or small independent? 🛍️

We are hosting our first Indoor Christmas Shopping Event at YMCA Cafe, and we want you to be a part of it! Taking place on Thursday 26th November from 6-8pm, this festive evening will be the perfect chance for locals to browse and buy unique gifts while enjoying mulled w**e and prosecco 🥂✨

We're currently looking for fantastic local stalls to help make the night a success. To keep things supportive for our community, there is absolutely no fee for a table. All we ask in return is a donation of one item from your business to go towards our evening's Christmas raffle.

Big news for our Home Education programme! 📣

We’re so excited to share that we are expanding what we offer for local home-ed families with the launch of our brand-new Science Club! 🧪🔬✨

To celebrate and give you a sneak peek, we’re running a hands-on drop-in taster session on Friday 9th October, 11.30-12.30 on 3rd Floor in our main building.

As a reminder, On Friday 2nd October, our gym, cafe, and nursery will be closed for the day.

This is for our annual All Staff Conference...the one day a year we bring our nationwide team together to celebrate their hard work, connect, and plan our strategy to make our services even better for you in the year ahead.

We know how much you rely on our facilities, and we sincerely apologise for the disruption to your routine. We'll be back open and operating as usual on Saturday, 3rd October for Gym and Cafe, Monday 5th October for our Nursery.

🌾 Harvest Festival Collection 🌾

This Harvest season, we’re gathering essential supplies to support young people, local families, and individuals facing homelessness across North Tyneside.

With so many in our community turning to food banks right now, we want to help ease the pressure...even if just for a short time. Every single tin, packet, or extra item you can spare makes a real difference to someone who needs it.

We'll be accepting donations Monday, 28th September – Friday, 9th October. Stop by our donation station (just look for our helpful scarecrow!) located between YMCA Gym and YMCA Cafe.

Please consider picking up an extra tin or two next time you shop. Thank you for your kindness and support! 💛
