‘The student was quiet at the beginning of the placement, which is understandable, however by the end of the week his confidence had grown massively. He was notably polite to our clients.
There was a moment when he proactively introduced himself to one of our biggest clients which impressed us all.
He embraced all tasks he was given and showed an overall positive attitude.

✨ Support the next generation of talent through creativity, teamwork and enterprise ✨

At our '𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘆' events, the students design and create a team t-shirt and produce a detailed portfolio which contains all of their design ideas, packing requirements, promotional material and financial plans.

Students spend the day with business volunteers, developing ideas and producing a comprehensive business plan for an independent t-shirt manufacturing company.

Our volunteers find these events really rewarding.

A full briefing will be given in advance. No prior preparation is required.
You won't need a DBS check.

⚡We’re now heading into one of our busiest and most exciting times of the year, with students taking part in work experience placements across the region. ⚡

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the employers who continue to support our work experience programme. Your commitment helps provide young people with invaluable insights into the world of work and plays a vital role in their future development. 👏

In May, Year 10 students from Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School enjoyed a fantastic week gaining valuable workplace experience in a wide range of placements.

This week, it’s the turn of a large group of students from Maiden Erlegh School in Reading enjoying their own work experience journeys.

Looking ahead to next week, we’ll be supporting the first cohort of Year 10 students from Maiden Erlegh School in Earley, followed by the second cohort on 29 June. Year 10 students from Leighton Park School in Reading and Year 11 students from Eton College will also be heading out into the workplace.

We wish all the students taking part over the coming weeks a rewarding, enjoyable, and inspiring experience. 🙌

🌟A huge well done to the Year 7 students at Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School who took part in our Champions of Enterprise workshop this week.🌟

This event develops team working skills, creativity skills, time management skills and presentation confidence. The students are asked to present a solution to a business problem.

Throughout the challenge, these students demonstrated outstanding maturity, teamwork and commitment. They worked incredibly hard to develop ideas that made a positive impact on their community and delivered fantastic, in-depth presentations with confidence and professionalism.

We are so proud of everything they achieved and the way they represented themselves and their school.

Well done, everyone – you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

⚡ Join our wonderful volunteers and find out how rewarding it is to inspire young people at our in-school events⚡

This week we were at St Martin's CE Primary School in Newbury for a 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝗯 workshop.

This is a fun, interactive workshop where the children rotate around in small groups, ask volunteers questions about their job and try to figure out what they do. The aim is to get them talking to adults they don't know and learning about all the wonderful industries out there that they may not know about.

We have more dates coming up and would love to have you onboard.

There is no minimum commitment and you won't need a DBS check.

🌟 Help shape tomorrow’s leaders—Join our next Get Shirty event 🌟

Pictured are the outcomes of a fun day at St. Joseph's Catholic College last week, where we delivered a Get Shirty event with Year 8 students.

At this event, students spend the day with volunteers, developing ideas and producing a comprehensive business plan for an independent t-shirt manufacturing company.

✨ Where Are They Now? – Joanne’s Story ✨

After recently sharing a photograph from a 1995 work experience celebration evening at Donnington Valley Hotel, we were delighted to receive a response from Joanne, a former pupil of The Turnpike School, who is in the photo:

“I completed my work experience at Thatcham Travel. At that time, I was interested in becoming an Air Hostess after leaving school. However, after leaving University, I decided to pursue a career in Education - a much more sensible idea! Although my present role is not linked to my work experience, there were valuable skills which I learnt: time management, professionalism, active listening etc. I will never forget my work experience week and I still feel proud that my work experience log book was chosen as being the best from my school.”
