Today on International Day of the Midwife, Dan Minton, one of less than 200 male midwives in the UK, is celebrating his colleagues and reflecting on his profession.💙

“One of the best parts of my role is how fortunate I am to work with so many amazing female colleagues that have taught me from when I was a student and helped me grow into the midwife I am today.

"My current role is on the postnatal ward helping families prepare to go home and start their lives together. It’s always an honour to see first time parents walking out the doors with their newborn and knowing I played a part in their magical moments."

Dan, thank you for being an incredible midwife and role model. 💙

If you're interested in becoming a midwife, search ‘NHS midwifery Careers’ to find out more.

‘Silent No More’ Campaign - Driving Forward a Scottish Men’s Health Strategy
Why is this important?
Men in Scotland are facing a silent health crisis. They are significantly more likely to die by su***de, experience social isolation, and suffer poorer health outcomes than women—yet why does Scotland still not have a dedicated Men’s Health Strategy? While the UK Government announced its first ever Men and Boys’ Health Strategy for England in November 2025, and countries like Ireland (since 2009) already have targeted policies in place, the Scottish Government has confirmed there are currently no plans to develop one.
