Join us for a fascinating evening of local archaeology!

West Linton & District Historical Association is delighted to welcome Jim Ness from the Biggar Archaeology Group for an illustrated talk on the group’s latest discoveries. Our first meeting of the 25/26 winter season will take place on Monday 15 September. In a change from our normal style of meeting, we've decided to hold a walk up the Main Street, talking about the buildings, what they were used for and giving some general information about the village.

The walk will start at 7pm at the Old Toll Teahouse and go up the Main Street to the Deanfoot Road and will be led by a member of the Historical Association. It should be an interesting walk for anyone who wants to find out a bit more about the village, and complements a similar talk we had in 2021, if you are a longstanding member of the Association.

To round off the evening there will be a small exhibition of photos of the Main Street in the New Church Hall which you can view after the walk.

We will be taking membership fees for the year at the hall (cost £15.50) or you can attend the walk as a one off for £3.10 per person. We can accept cash or card and a discount will be given for cash.

Some admin - the walk will go ahead unless the rain is torrential or it is very windy and will take around an hour. If you'd like to attend please dress appropriately. It is suitable for anyone, but please note that we will be walking and standing the whole time, and that the lack of pavements in some parts of the village means that we will need to take care in the traffic. We will be starting at 7pm sharp to maximise the daylight we have.
