The Scottish Borders Council are addressing the problem of tree roots on the TVRP by the Eshiels Wood. Below is taken from an email from the SBC.

Surface repairs to the TVRP at Eshiels are taking place between 09 March and 20 March. The repairs are to provide a fix to the areas on the path where tree roots have pushed up through the path surface.
Whilst the repairs are taking place a closure of the TVRP will be in effect. The closure extends from the underpass to the west of Eshiels and at the path junction near Horsburgh Castle. Closure and directional signage will be in place to direct users to the diversion along the A72

To Users of the Railway Path,
I’ve heard some reports of inappropriate vehicles on the TVRP which are a danger to the users - the users are not just cyclists but a multiuser path for wheelchair, mobility vehicles, partially sighted among other vulnerable people. There are a few places where farmers require access but these are usually pretty obvious. As one of the facilitators of the Peeblesshire Paths Group (for those who don’t know us we were a a group of volunteers who do vegetation management on the paths) I would like to put together a record of incidents so I can then approach those responsible for the location. The best way for me would be if you could report via email using [email protected]
Please state date and time of incident, location and the details of the incident. Also your contact details so we can get back to you.
If you want to know more our group you can also use that email address.

A Big Thank You to Peebles Cycle Club for organising a work session on the TVRP last Sunday. There were 15 volunteers plus 2 young trainees who, under Ewan's guidance, spent 2 hrs cutting back vegetation from Glentress to Eshiels Woodland and the section between Innerleithen and Walkerburn. They did a great job.
If you would like to help with keeping the path in good condition find out more from Peeblesshire Paths Group at [email protected]
