💙💙Mental health Awareness Week💙💙

Fantastic new partnership, North East Wales Mind and Football For Life, have come together to tackle stigma and to kick dealing with mental health challenges alone into shape! ⚽

Football for Life has formed a partnership with North East Wales Mind , recognising both the vital work they do in providing advice, support, and advocacy for people experiencing mental health challenges, and the clear evidence that men, particularly those under 45, are significantly under-represented in mental health support services.

According to the UK Government’s Men’s Health Strategy for England summary, men are far less likely to seek help than women despite facing some of the most serious outcomes, including su***de being a leading cause of death for men under 50. This is often driven by stigma, societal expectations around masculinity, and services not always being designed in ways that effectively engage men.

Through this partnership, Football for Life CIC aims to harness the power of football, along with New Mind's professional support system, to break down these barriers, create safe and supportive environments, and encourage more men within the community to open up, connect, and access the support they need, ultimately contributing to the betterment, wellbeing, and resilience of men across the community.

📍Great mental health care is human

🌞Great mental health isn’t just clinical, it’s human.

It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about rent and too unwell to work. It’s the advisor who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. It’s the therapist who talks through what’s happened to you, not what’s ‘wrong’ with you.

Join us in the fight to break down stigma, and get talking about mental health, this week and every week!

Great mental health isn’t just clinical, it’s human.

It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about exam pressure, or when your feeling not you. It’s the advisor who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. It’s the therapist who talks through what’s happened to you, not what’s ‘wrong’ with you.
