🗓 9–10 May 2026
📍 Grosvenor Museum, Chester

We’re delighted to announce the next Finds Research Group meeting, taking place in historic Chester this May.

🗿 Post-Roman finds from the Chester Amphitheatre excavations and beyond.
Originally centred on new exhibitions from the Chester Roman Amphitheatre excavations (2004–2006), the programme has expanded to include exciting new research on Early Medieval and later finds from Chester, Cheshire, the Welsh Marches, and the West Midlands.

🔍 What’s included?
✔️ A full day of illustrated talks on Saturday
✔️ Access to the Grosvenor Museum exhibitions
✔️ A dedicated finds viewing session
✔️ Sunday walking tour of medieval Chester (including the Rows)
✔️ Visit to the Norman church of St John the Baptist, with access to Anglo‑Saxon stone sculpture.

Conference - The Archaeology of Waterways

On 16-17th November we are partnering with the the Nautical Archaeology Society, the University of Durham, and the Architectural and Archaeological Society of Durham and
Northumberland, to host the 'Archaeology of Waterways' conference in Durham. We have a packed programme of interest to anyone who researches is interested in the archaeology of waterways, both above and underwater! Members of the FRG can buy discounted tickets, and may also apply for travel expenses through our FRG Research Fund. Please see the full progamme and more info on the conference website:
