TW: Su***de Awareness
A personal message from our Co-Leader: Jono P**n 💚
You may see all the highlights, activities and positive moments we share on social media. But what we don't always share are the difficult moments, including having to attend the funeral of someone within our community who has sadly lost their life to su***de. 🙏💚
It still pains me that, having lost one of my own friends to su***de over 10 years ago, we are still facing such a devastating challenge. Despite the conversations, campaigns and awareness being raised, we continue to lose far too many lives.
When I joined The Man Cave three years ago, the national statistics showed that more than 12 men were dying by su***de every day. Today, that figure is over 14 men a day.
I've attended so many funerals that you might think I've found better ways to deal with the pain and suffering.
The truth is, I haven't.
What those experiences have done, however, is ignite an even stronger determination in me to reach more men and help businesses and organisations better understand mental health, recognise when someone might be struggling and learn how we can support one another.
Because behind every statistic is a person. Someone's son, brother, father, partner, friend or colleague. A life that mattered, and a family and community left behind.
We need to keep talking. We need to keep listening. We need to create spaces where people feel safe enough to take off the mask, open up and ask for help without fear of judgement.
And most importantly, we need to remind people that they don't have to face their struggles alone.
A little reminder: It's OK not to be OK. It's OK to talk. And it's OK to ask for help. 💚
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out.

You don't have to be at breaking point to ask for help. If you're worried about someone, don't be afraid to start that conversation. Sometimes simply asking, listening and being there can make a difference.
Let's keep looking out for one another. Let's keep breaking the stigma and let's keep reminding people that their lives matter.
The Man Cave UK 💚
