MONTHLY EVENTS

3rd Friday, 19th June: Games Night

Venue will be open from 18:30 (6.30pm), We will have a selection of prizes, and there will be a raffle. Plus a few games of Bingo.

Pleased to announce that Royal British Legion , Branch Committee members, attended the East Kent Mind Veterans Recognition Awards and Information Fair in Canterbury on Tuesday, the Royal British Legion, Margate Branch Vice-Chairman, Kevin Martin, along with Dave Geer, received an award. Congratulations to all 32 Award Winners.

More about the awards:

"Kevin Martin has been instrumental in getting the Margate Royal British Legion branch back open after many years of being closed. As Vice Chairman and Events Director, Kevin is always at the forefront of planning and organisation club events raising much needed funds for the Margate Club and the RBL as a whole. He spends countless hours supporting the club and his eye for detail when planning events is superb".

"Dave Gear has been the backbone of the running of the Unity House Club. Without Dave’s dedication the club would have collapsed. Dave has been a vital part of the formation of the re-launched new Branch of the Margate Royal British Legion, now based at the Unity Club. Dave helps organise many events for the members. Dave took a major role in collecting for the Poppy Appeal in Margate last year which was vital for the success of this operation as the Poppy Appeal in Margate has been struggling for some time to be effective".

5th June - 19:00 Members Public Meeting + Quiz Night!
Followed by Quiz Night, come along and join a team, or get together with friends and make up a team!

We will open the club at 6pm. The quiz will start sometime afterwards probably closer to 7.30pm. The entrance fee will be £4 per head for the quiz.

Maximum of 6 per team. (If you cant make make a team, please come on along anyway and we will make a team up). This will include a round of play your cards right. The proceeds going to branch running costs. We will have a selection of prizes and there will be a raffle.

Although we did not attend "Thrive after 50" at Hartsdown Academy Official, organised by Karen Brinkman Tvhs and Cllr. Jack Packman with a Royal British Legion, Margate Branch Stall, due to ill health and work comitments by Branch Officers, our Media Officer in his other role, did manage to circulate and network, and was good to speak with Tracy who is part of Maurice House and Lodge

The event featured over 70 organisations and businesses and was well attended, hopefully this will be an annual event, whereby members of the Branch can attend in future.

Today our Royal British Legion, Margate Branch , Standard, carried by our Branch Standard Bearer, took part in the Operation Dynamo Parade and Service in Ramsgate. This year marks the 86th Anniversary, so good to see so many on parade. Huge thanks to the organisers, and thanks to the residents and visitors who watched the parade.

THRIVE AFTER 50
Refreshments available, take part in activities, meet and chat with various local businesses and organisations.

On Monday evening Branch Officers from Royal British Legion, Margate Branch, attended the Annual General Meeting of the Charter Trustees, and Mayor of Margate Mayor Making Ceremony. On behalf of the Branch Chairman, Officers and Members, we would like to first thank the continued support from the Mayor of Margate, Mayors Office and Charter Trustees.

Over the next 12 months we will be looking forward to working with the new Mayor and Mayoral Party including Mayor Cllr Leo Britcher, Tamara S Campbell as Mayoress, Deputy Mayor Cllr Martin Boyd and Elizabeth Stone as Deputy Mayoress.

Also congratulations on Margate Sea Cadets Able Cadet Green on his appointment as Mayors Cadet.
