Think Before You Leap!

Jumping into open water can be deadly. Hidden rocks, cold water shock, and strong currents are just some of the dangers.

Donโ€™t risk it.

UNDERWATER SEARCH & RECOVERY | TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATION

A big thank you to Chris from Kent Search and Rescue for taking the time to visit West Mercia Search and Rescue and demonstrate a prospective new Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).

The demonstration provided our team with a valuable opportunity to explore the capabilities of this specialist technology and consider how it could enhance our underwater search and recovery operations.

Underwater ROVs have the potential to support our volunteers in searching challenging environments, improving search capabilities while reducing the risks associated with operating in difficult underwater conditions.

As a charity, we are continually looking at ways to develop our operational capabilities, embrace new technology and ensure our volunteers have access to the most effective equipment to support the communities we serve.

๐Ÿ‘ A special thank you to Chris and Kent Search and Rescue for sharing their knowledge, experience and expertise.

Collaboration and knowledge-sharing between Search and Rescue teams are invaluable, helping us all to develop, improve and support families in bringing people home.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Storm Boelo Update ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

With Storm Boelo bringing severe weather to our region, please remember that your safety comes first.

Foyle Search and Rescue is urging everyone to take extra care, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family.

If youโ€™re near the river or coastal areas, please remember the Coast Guardโ€™s vital message: Stay High, Stay Dry. Strong currents, rising water levels, and unpredictable conditions can become dangerous very quickly.

If you encounter flooding, power outages, gas issues, or other storm-related emergencies, please use the official numbers provided.

For urgent danger to life, always call 999 or 112 immediately.

Stay safe. Stay informed. And remember to save the list of numbers on the post.
