This Sunday, the Angels United family comes together once again.

More than football. More than a game. Two communities using sport to bring people together and make sure nobody has to face the difficult stuff alone.

This week, we’re proud to welcome Steel City Sports & Social to Astley Sports Village.

Based in Sheffield, Steel City brings people together from across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire through sport, social events and fundraising, with mental health and wellbeing at the heart of what they do.

They believe in reducing isolation, building friendships and creating a sense of community through sport.

That’s something we understand at Angels United.

Our journeys may be different. Our reasons for stepping onto a football pitch may be different. But the belief behind what we do is very much the same.

Sport can create connection.
Community can create belonging.
And sometimes, simply knowing you’re surrounded by people who understand can make all the difference.

To everyone pulling on an Angels United shirt, supporting from the sidelines or following us from home, thank you for continuing to help us honour our Angels and make sure no family walks alone.

And to everyone at Steel City Sports & Social, thank you for making the journey across from Sheffield to join us. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Astley and sharing what should be another special afternoon of football, friendship and community.

Support looks different here.
Forever Connected. Forever Loved. πŸ’™πŸ©·

Yesterday was about something far more important than raising money.

It was about raising awareness, making connections and making sure bereaved families know that support is out there.

A huge thank you to Finding Rainbows for inviting us to be part of such an important event, and to all of the incredible speakers who stood up and shared their knowledge, experiences and stories.

And a massive shout out to everyone who attended.

For us, one of the most important parts of the day was meeting new families, having conversations and hopefully showing a few more people that support doesn’t have to look a certain way.

For some people it might be a support group.

For others it might be talking over a coffee or while walking around a park.

For some of our dads, it might simply be pulling on a pair of boots on a Tuesday night.

Whatever it looks like, nobody should have to navigate bereavement alone.

Yesterday was also another reminder that support works better when organisations work together.

We don’t need to compete for families, attention or space. We need to connect people with the support that is right for them and build a stronger community around bereaved parents and families.

It was brilliant to meet so many people yesterday, and to those families we spoke to, we genuinely hope we’ll get the opportunity to welcome you down to an Angels United session in the future.

Thank you again to everyone at Finding Rainbows for bringing people together and creating a day centred around awareness, conversation and connection.

We’re already looking forward to working alongside you and being part of next year’s event.

Support looks different here.

Forever Loved. Forever Connected.

πŸ˜πŸ’—πŸ’™ 21 OF 35

We are absolutely blown away by the response to the Ember Founders Club.

In just a few days, 21 of our 35 Founding places have been pledged.

That's Β£2,100 pledged towards bringing the first 500 physical Embers to life and we're now 60% of the way there.

Just 14 Founding places remain.

To every individual, family, business, club and community group that has already pledged to become part of Ember's story, thank you.

We will be contacting everyone who has pledged within the next 48 hours with the next steps and more information about becoming an official Ember Founder.

Remember, there is nothing to pay yet. We will only request payment once all 35 Founding places have been filled.

And at the rate this is moving... could we actually reach 35 this week?

If you've been thinking about becoming one of the Founding 35, there are now just 14 opportunities left.

21 down. 14 to go.

Forever Loved. Forever Connected.

🐘 THE EMBER FOUNDERS CLUB IS HERE. πŸ’—πŸ’™

Today, we're asking 35 people to help us bring Ember to life.

Over the last few months, you've watched Ember become part of the Angels United family.

Ember has appeared in our stories, our books, our hospital work and our conversations.

But we've always had a bigger dream for this little elephant.

We want families to be able to hold Ember.

Because when a family experiences the heartbreak of losing a baby or child, sometimes there simply aren't any words.

Sometimes comfort just needs to be something you can hold.

So today, we're launching the Ember Founders Club.

We're looking for our Founding 35.

πŸ’— 35 Founding Members
πŸ’™ Β£100 pledge each
🐘 500 Embers brought to life
🀍 A legacy that can support families for years to come

Anyone can become an Ember Founder.

You might be an individual or family.

You might be a business, football club or community group.

Or you might choose to take a Founder place in memory of your baby or child, giving their name a permanent place in Ember's story.

And there's nothing to pay today.

We're asking our Founding 35 to pledge their support first. Once all 35 places have been filled, we'll contact each Founder to complete their Β£100 contribution.

Those contributions will allow us to create the first 500 physical Embers.

Some will be placed directly into the hands of bereaved families. Others will be available to purchase, helping us fund future Embers and allowing this project to keep growing.

This isn't about creating a cuddly elephant.

It's about creating comfort.

It's about remembrance.

It's about making sure families know that their baby or child will never be forgotten.

35 places. One shared vision.

Could you be one of our Founding 35?

🐘 Visit angelsunitedfc.co.uk/ember-founders-club to find out more and pledge your place.

And if you can't become a Founder, please share this post. You might help us find someone who can.

A small contribution. A huge impact. A legacy of love.

This week, we’re proud to welcome Mind Over Matchday to Astley Sports Village.

Mind Over Matchday are a Community Interest Club built around a simple but powerful idea: looking after the whole player.

Through six-a-side and eleven-a-side football, they create opportunities for men aged 18+ to get together, play football, build friendships and, importantly, talk.

That is something we understand at Angels United.

Our journeys and our reasons for stepping onto a football pitch may be different, but the belief behind what we do is very similar.

To everyone pulling on an Angels United shirt, supporting from the sidelines or following us from home, thank you for continuing to help us honour our Angels and make sure no family walks alone.

And to everyone at Mind Over Matchday, we look forward to welcoming you to Astley.

Another very special Ember delivery 🐘🩷🩡

Today, more copies of Ember & The Invisible String found a new home, this time with the Bereavement Team at Stepping Hill Hospital.

But, as with so much of what we do, there is a name and a story behind this delivery.

Matt, Jodie and Arlo, one of the youngest members of the Angels United family, delivered the books in memory of Arlo’s big brother, Baby B. 🩷🩡

For us, that is what makes this project so special. These aren't simply books being handed to hospitals. Each one carries a story. Each one carries the name and memory of a baby or child who is loved beyond words & each one has the opportunity to provide a little comfort to another family facing the unimaginable.

Ember & The Invisible String was created to help children and families understand that although someone we love may no longer be here in the way we wish they were, the connection we have with them never disappears.

A huge thank you to the Bereavement Team at Stepping Hill Hospital for welcoming Ember and for the compassion and care they provide to bereaved families every day.

North Manchester.
Tameside.
Elite Funeral Services.
And now Stepping Hill.

🐘 Ember's journey is only just beginning.

If you work within a hospital, hospice, funeral service or bereavement organisation and feel Ember & The Invisible String could support the families in your care, please get in touch.

We would love to get Ember into the hands of even more families who may need him.

On Friday, Josh, Steph & Aurora visited Elite Funeral Services to donate copies of Ember & The Invisible String.

Elite Funeral Services cared for Josh and Steph's family with incredible compassion following the loss of their son, Spencer. Being able to return and share something that may help other families felt like a meaningful way to say thank you, while helping to continue Spencer's legacy.

Ember & The Invisible String was created to gently support families navigating the unimaginable. While it's a story that helps parents remember that their baby or child will always be loved, always remembered and forever connected, it also gives siblings a way to understand loss, keep talking about their brother or sister, and know that love never disappears.

We are incredibly grateful to Elite Funeral Services for everything they do to support bereaved families during some of the hardest moments of their lives, and we're honoured that Ember can now become a small part of that journey too.

Every book we place into the hands of a family is another reminder that no one should have to walk this path alone.

Together, we can make sure more families receive comfort when they need it most.

Forever Loved. Forever Connected.

This weekend, the Angels United family comes together once again.

πŸ“… Sunday 2nd August
⏰ 14:30
πŸ“ Astley Sports Village, Yew Tree Lane, Dukinfield SK16 5BL

This week we welcome The Dutchy Project to Astley Sports Village for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of football, friendship and community.

The Dutchy Project are a Manchester basedmental health charity, supporting human health activities and physical well being activities. The charity was initially founded after an increase in suicides in our local community, many of which were friends. The charity is named after our friend who sadly took his life 22 years ago.

At Angels United, we know just how important community can be. While our journeys may be different, both clubs are built on the belief that nobody should have to face life's challenges alone. Football has an incredible way of bringing people together, creating friendships, support networks and lasting memories.

We look forward to what will be an incredible day on and off the pitch as two fantastic communities come together.

Whether you are joining us from the sidelines, supporting from home, or stepping onto the pitch with us, thank you for being part of our family. Your support, encouragement and presence help us continue to honour our Angels and ensure that no family walks alone.

Forever Connected. Forever Loved. πŸ’™πŸ©·

24/07/2026

Today, we delivered the very first copies of Ember & The Invisible String to the bereavement teams at North Manchester General Hospital and Tameside Hospital.

This little book was created with one hope. That when a family faces the unimaginable, they have something gentle to hold onto. A story that reminds them their baby or child will always be loved, always remembered and forever connected.

North Manchester was especially meaningful for us. One of the youngest members of the Angels United family, Orla, helped deliver the books to the very hospital where her older sisters, Poppy & Dottie, were born, and where Orla herself was welcomed into the world. It was a full-circle moment that reminded us why this project has always been about creating hope from heartbreak.

A huge thank you to the incredible healthcare professionals who welcomed Ember into their bereavement services. The compassion they show to families every single day is something we will always be grateful for.

We hope these books bring comfort to every family who receives one.

This is only the beginning.
If you work within a hospital, hospice or bereavement service and feel that Ember & The Invisible String could help the families you support, we'd love to hear from you.

Please get in touch and we'll be happy to discuss providing copies.

Forever Loved. Forever Connected. πŸ’—πŸ’™
