Introducing Ember & The Invisible String

A gentle colouring book created with love by the Angels United family.

This little book is all about love, connection and remembrance. Designed to help children feel comforted, understood and never alone through simple activities, soft moments and the story of the invisible string that connects us forever.

Having worked alongside early years teachers, healthcare professionals and bereaved parents, we know how difficult it can be to find the right words after loss, especially for children. That’s why we have taken great care to use gentle, supportive language to help families navigate their journey.

📖 Ember & The Invisible String is now available for £3 plus P&P.
If you would like a copy, please send us a message through our socials.

We would also love to connect with:
🏥 Hospitals
🕯️ Children’s hospices
🤍 Bereavement teams
👩‍⚕️ Healthcare professionals
📚 Support services and charities

We would be honoured to send copies to families who may need them most and explore ways to get Ember into safe spaces where comfort and support matter most.

Thank you for continuing to support Angels United and helping us remind families that they are never alone.

Forever connected. Forever loved.

Matchday Announcement

This weekend, the Angels United family comes together once again.
More than football. More than a game. A reminder that no one walks this journey alone.

🆚 Village Manchester
📅 Sunday 24th May 2026
⏰ 16:15
📍 Astley Sports Village, Yew Tree Lane, Dukinfield SK16 5BL

This week we welcome Village Manchester to Astley Sports Village. Village Manchester FC are one of the world’s oldest and largest inclusive football clubs, they welcome anyone down to join them who has a love of football and we look forward to joining them on the pitch.

This week’s game is also special for another reason as one of our players will hang his boots up at the end of the game. Ryan has been part of the journey, the laughter, the difficult moments and the memories made along the way. Football may have brought us onto the same pitch, but it is the friendships, support and family built around it that truly matter.

This Sunday marks the end of a chapter as Ryan steps onto the pitch one final time in Angels United colours. Thank you for every run, every tackle there have been a lot of them, every conversation and every moment shared beside us.

Whether you are joining us from the sidelines, supporting from home or stepping onto the pitch with us, thank you for being part of our family.

Five years ago today, we recorded our first ever win on the football pitch in very typical Manchester conditions.

The truth is, it has never really been about the results.

From the very beginning, this club was built for something far bigger than football. It was built to bring people together through loss, to create support, friendship and family in places where silence once lived.

But today still feels special.
Five years on, we wanted to look back at that moment. The smiles, the celebrations, the togetherness. A team made up of people carrying heartbreak, somehow finding light in each other and creating memories that would become part of the story of Angels United

That first win was never about the result.
It was proof that something beautiful could still grow after loss.

Five years later, we are still here.
Still remembering.
Still supporting.
Still carrying names on our shirts and love in our hearts.

Forever connected. Forever loved.

🏟️💙 7 Grounds. 1 Mission. 🩷

We’re taking on the Angels United 7 Ground Ultra Marathon across Greater Manchester, covering 36.1 miles between iconic football grounds including Gigg Lane, Boundary Park, Seel Park, Bower Fold, the Etihad Stadium, Peninsula Stadium and Old Trafford.

But this is so much more than the distance.

Every single step is for babies and children gone too soon. For grieving parents, families and loved ones carrying a loss that never leaves them. For raising awareness, breaking the silence around baby and child loss, and reminding people that nobody has to face grief alone.

Throughout the walk we’ll be carrying a custom Angels United flag, filled with the names of angels loved and lost, so every mile we walk carries them with us.

If you would like your angel’s name added to the flag, please message us. We would be honoured to carry them with us on this journey.

This challenge will test us physically and mentally, but it’s driven by love, remembrance, community and purpose. We’re turning miles into conversations, footsteps into support, and football into something far bigger than the game itself.

If you can support us by donating, sharing or simply following the journey, it genuinely means the world.

Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 💙🩷

At Angels United, we understand that grief and mental health are closely connected.

Some days feel a little lighter.
Some days feel incredibly heavy.
And sometimes, it can feel like you’re carrying more than you can put into words.

That’s why support matters. Support is stronger when we work together and that is why we are proud to work with other incredible groups to make sure no one slips through the cracks.

There is no right way to feel.
There is no timeline for healing.

Because it’s okay to not be okay.

And you should never have to carry that weight on your own.
Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, you are always welcome. Come just as you are.

🐘 Ember is always with us, a quiet presence that represents remembrance, support, and the promise that no one walks this journey alone.

For the next family who might be reading this

We know it’s not always easy to take that first step.

You might not know what to expect.
You might not know what to say.
You might not even be sure if it’s for you.

We felt the same.

But Angels United gave us something we didn’t realise we needed a place where we didn’t have to explain everything, and a place where people just understood.

Our Tuesday night sessions are open to anyone who needs them.

Some people choose to talk.
Some just come to listen.
Some simply sit quietly and not say a word.

And all of that is okay.

There is no pressure here. No expectations. Just support.

Ember reminds us that the herd stays together.
That no one has to carry things alone.
That even on the hardest days, there are people beside you who understand.
If you’re thinking about coming down for the first time, this is your sign.

Come as you are. We’ll be here. If you want to find out more or have any questions comment below or drop us a message.

Every time we step onto the pitch at Astley, we’re not just teammates; we’re parents, families, and friends united by love, loss, and the memories of our angels. We carry their names in our hearts, their stories in our steps, and their light in everything we do.

This Sunday, we return to our home ground to face 1885 Vets a team that we haven’t share the pitch with in the past but look forward to welcoming them to Astley for what we hope is an incredible game for both teams.

Why not come down? Whether you’ve experienced this pain yourself, want to stand alongside those who have, or simply believe in the power of football to heal and connect, your presence means the world.

Together we are stronger. One team, one community, one conversation at a time we play for them, we play for each other, and we play for hope.

Come and watch. Come and stand with us. Come and play for them.

April has been a month full of moments that mattered, each one adding something special to what Angels United is becoming.

Easter gave us the chance to slow things down, spend time together, and share some much-needed light and connection as a community.

Then came a milestone we’ll never forget. Our 500th post… and the moment we introduced Ember. 🐘
This wasn’t just another post. It was the beginning of something bigger. Ember represents comfort, strength, and a way for families to open up conversations that aren’t always easy. Seeing the response, and what Ember already means to so many people, has been incredibly powerful for all of us. We have some big plans that involve Ember and trust us they are going to be epic.

We also made our return to the pitch, and it felt like coming home. A reminder of where it all started and why we do what we do.

Across four Tuesday night sessions, that sense of togetherness kept growing. New faces joined us, old faces came back, and each session added another thread to the fabric of this community.

And we ended the month with something that captured everything Angels United stands for. Our Angels vs Angels game, with the kids involved, bringing pure energy, chaos, joy, and a reminder that this is about more than football. It’s about family, support, and being there for each other in every moment.

April gave us so much. And May… we’re just getting started.
