Community Gathering Update, Thank You to Everyone Who Participated! 🌧️

Despite some challenging weather, our first community gathering outside Central Library was a great start! A huge thank you to everyone who came along, shared their thoughts, and gave feedback. Your voices really matter, and every comment helps shape what we do next.

We had around 15–20 participants, plus several passerbys who joined in for a while, and even managed to convince a busker to play and lead the chant, all in the rain! Events like this are about more than numbers; they’re about connection, understanding what the community cares about, and exploring how we can bring about positive change together.

This gathering was a “feeler” — a way to see where the community stands, what shared values matter most, and how we can support each other moving forward. If you couldn’t attend, don’t worry, you can still share your ideas, experiences, or skills, whether it’s through volunteering, providing feedback, or simply joining future gatherings.

We’re especially looking for volunteers who want to be part of the movement long-term, whether you have leadership skills, tech experience, organising abilities, or just a positive, collaborative attitude, there’s a place for you! Every contribution counts in helping us grow stronger together.

This is just the beginning. With your continued input and support, we can make a real difference. Let’s keep the conversation going, keep sharing ideas, and continue building the community we want to see! 💪✨

Volunteers Needed – Community Gathering & Movement Support

We’re looking for volunteers to support not just this Mother’s Day gathering, but the wider community movement.

📍 Manchester Central Library – St Peter’s Square
⏰ 7:30pm, Mother’s Day

This is a feeler to see where the community is at, understand the vibe, and identify needs — turnout is secondary.

We welcome people with any skills:

* Retired professionals with corporate, leadership, or organisational experience
* Young people with tech, social media, or organisational skills
* Anyone collaborative, positive, or just willing to help
* Musicians, vocalists, or photographers to help capture and share the event

How it works:

Volunteers help with coordination, welcoming attendees, or supporting community connections

Be respectful and collaborative

Small contributions make a big difference

We’re also inviting next Pankhurst applicants or anyone interested in joining the movement.

If you’d like to get involved, comment below or send us a message.

Raising Awareness

Many people across society have experienced violence, abuse, or hardship in different forms.

Sometimes the most powerful thing a community can do is acknowledge these realities and support those affected.

Raising awareness helps create conversations that lead to understanding, compassion, and change.

This page exists to encourage thoughtful discussion and positive community engagement.

Community Question

Many people want to feel safe in their communities, whether they are walking home at night, raising families, or simply going about everyday life.

Creating safer communities is something that involves all of us – through respect, awareness, and looking out for one another.

Small actions from individuals can sometimes have a big impact on how safe people feel in public spaces.

What practical steps do you think communities can take to help create safer environments for everyone?

Please keep the discussion respectful.

Why Community Matters

Strong communities are built when people care about one another and are willing to stand together during difficult times.

Moments of unity can remind us that compassion, respect and responsibility are values that many people share.

This upcoming gathering in Manchester is intended to create a simple moment where people can come together, reflect, and show support for building safer and more respectful communities.

Everyone is welcome.

Community Question

Every community faces difficult moments, whether through violence, tragedy, or personal hardship.

When people are affected by abuse or violence, the support they receive from those around them can make a real difference in their recovery.

Sometimes that support comes from friends, neighbours, local organisations, or simply people being willing to listen and show compassion.

How can communities better support victims of violence or abuse so that no one feels alone?

We welcome respectful discussion and thoughtful perspectives.

All life is equal.

Community Question

Creating a safer and more respectful society doesn’t always start with big policies or major campaigns.

Often, it begins with the small choices people make every day, how we treat each other, how we speak to one another, and how willing we are to stand up for kindness and respect.

Simple actions can make a real difference.
Listening without judgement.
Showing compassion to people who are struggling.
Challenging harmful behaviour when we see it.
Supporting those who may feel isolated or unheard.

What small actions do you think individuals can take in everyday life to help create a more respectful and safer society?

We welcome thoughtful and respectful discussion.

All life is equal.

Every person deserves to feel safe in their community.

Abuse, fear, and isolation affect people from all walks of life, men and women, young and old, from every culture and background.

But communities also have power.

Power to support.
Power to protect.
Power to speak up when something isn’t right.

What does community responsibility mean to you?
