Spirit of Soul Weekender

Taking place over this weekend, 9th to 11th October 2026 at the Last Drop Village Hotel, Bolton, the SOS Weekender features some of the finest DJ’s in the UK playing the very best in Soul, R&B, funk, Neo Soul, plus a touch of Soulful House & Reggae and a little bit of everything in between!

What to expect; A big welcome party on the Friday, glitz and glamour on the Saturday, cool grooves on the Sunday and various party themes throughout the weekend.
Also featuring the fabulous Harry Cambridge on the Saturday night, probably the world’s No1 tribute to Luther Vandross as seen on ITV.

On the Saturday evening there will be a charity auction and raffle with funds raised being donated to Kidneys for Life.

Good Luck to everyone taking part in the Manchester Half Marathon today, especially Kaitlin Crawford who is running for our lovely charity! Kaitlin also recently completed our special London to Paris bike ride and did brilliantly! It's certainly been an energetic year for her so far 🏃‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️

Thursday thank you 💜

Our Thursday thank you this week goes the team at IT Works who took on the challenge of a coastal 10-mile walk on September 11th all to raise money for Kidneys for Life in honour of one of the team, Elena’s, uncle Paul. Elena is a much-loved member of the IT Works team, and following Paul’s passing earlier this year after a lifelong battle with kidney failure, the team wanted to come together to support a cause that meant so much to him, and his family.

One of the reasons Kidneys for Life was so close to Paul’s heart was the support he received from Dr Ajay Dhaygude, his consultant nephrologist at Royal Preston Hospital. Dr Dhaygude is also a Trustee of the charity and works hard to support our fundraising and research.

This incredibly supportive team have raised an impressive £1700 (inc gift aid) for our lovely charity, this will make a big difference to the projects that we can support - thank you 💜

One of our wonderful supporters who completed the Manchester 10k just weeks before her donation 💜

This Rachel. She saved her brother’s life after deciding to donate her kidney without him ever asking! 🙌

For Rachel, there was never any doubt that she would step in to save her brother, she simply texted him the life-changing news.

The siblings say they have always been close, but when Harry became seriously ill while studying at university in London, that "special bond" took on a new significance.

While at uni, Harry began to feel "weird". He suffered from bad cramps and needed the toilet more than usual.

When Harry’s parents saw him at Christmas they were so worried to find that he couldn’t stand up without becoming breathless.

He was taken for blood tests and then immediately taken to A&E where he waited for a diagnosis.

After five days, Harry learnt he was suffering with Alport syndrome, a rare kidney condition which saw his kidney function running extremely low and the need for a transplant high 😔

Harry’s family immediately began discussing how they could help. Their younger brother Oliver offered to donate first, but was deemed too young and it was then that Rahcel stepped in 👏

Thankfully, Rachel was a suitable match - and the pair's operations took place one after the other in the same renal transplant department.

Fortunately, Harry's kidney function is now at 67 per cent and "jumping up every day," he says.

What an amazing thing to do, so glad they are looking out for one another ❤️

Today is our official launch of Christmas cards 2026! We have decided to chose a stunning selection for you this year as we realise a card is so personal and special to send.

For over 10 years Kidneys for Life have worked with the Charity Christmas Cards in their wonderful Christmas card shops but sadly, this will be their final, 55th year. This will be a celebration year of everything they have achieved and we are delighted once again to be putting our cards in the Wilmslow shop - more to come on that later!
